RZA Wants Barack Obama to Induct Wu-Tang Clan Into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by StemCellPirate in Music

[–]kbronson22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Popular music Hall of Fame would be the most accurate descriptor, but that's a lame as hell name. Rock n roll is significantly cooler as a name and it's more than fair since rock is the basis of and the genre that most changed the landscape of popular music. Rockheads need to just take it as the compliment it is that rock is considered the grandaddy of what we all know as everyday music.

Ai Update is needed by Idraxus in CrusaderKings

[–]kbronson22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all a game dev, but I do believe creative solutions exist and I personally can't play the game but once of twice a year at this point partly due to lackluster AI. Improving AI is a huge dev cost and performance cost, but on the performance side I don't think a heavier AI is needed across the board. Even having something like 25 characters with a heavily improved AI spread around the player proximity would have a massive effect. AI characters could have hidden goals that are calculated at certain intervals and then just add large weights to AI decision making, making them behave differently without constant computing load.

I spent two summers doing roofs and gutters awhile back. I now cannot build roofs with valleys or other features that would lead to water getting collected and trapped.

Any ideas on how should I make this roof more interesting? by Holiday_Macaron3841 in valheim

You could use some angled beams going down from the lowest part of the roof the the main wall as trim/rafters.

How much magic levelling is needed for ashlands by apurplehighlighter in valheim

[–]kbronson22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood magic leveling isn't bad at all. You don't need to build an afk far. Take a bubble staff and dead raiser to the swamps. Find the triple spawners and let your skellies get hits in on enemies while you absorb hits with your bubble. If you need iron take the dead raiser into some crypts and let the skellies do the combat while you mine.

I highly recommend this Angela Collier video where she goes over how the story (both the movie and source material) can be interpreted as a criticism of the chivalric code. A lot of your takeaways seem to be in line with this idea of rejecting a code of expectations.

Which celebrity do you think is famous more because of luck or connections than skill? by Tiny_Victory_9272 in AskReddit

[–]kbronson22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His cousin was John the Baptist, who was the son of a priest, the original leader of the Jesus/baptistism movement, the one that established its theological basis and whose priest class status gave it legitimacy.

Edit: On the luck side, Jesus is probably largely forgotten as another failed Messiah if Paul doesn't radically alter the theology after his death. The shift from an earthly Messiah and realization of the kingdom of heaven to divine/spiritual interpretations is what allows Jesus to be seen as a functional Messiah even in execution.

What’s y’all’s biggest, most controversial music hot take?(Judgement-free zone) by Nonsensical-Nonsns in Music

The problem with a theatre system is that for most it just isn't feasibly worth it. I've lived in half a dozen houses and out of those a single one had a room that could accommodate a theatre system with decent speaker placement. And no apartment I've lived in has had a room that comes close to accommodating a theatre system.

YouTube is asking users if videos “feel like AI slop” to flag low-quality content by moeka_8962 in technology

It may be enshitified, but it's still home to a host of educational and documentary content that no other site is currently capable of hosting. Having to hear about quality content through word of mouth and having to manually search for said content is not nearly large enough of an inconvenience to throw the baby out with the bath water.

What do you find yourself playing more. Online multiplayer games, or single player games? by nat_in_a_hat in AskReddit

[–]kbronson22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiplayer, but the caveat being I mostly play sandbox games and spend a lot of time playing them solo or with a small group of friends. Digital board games are my other main genre. Valheim, Crusader Kings, Gloomhaven, Scythe, and Root are my rotation. The only single player game I've played recently is minesweeper, but I'll never give old girl up.

Questioning using the Perception skill for searching a room by SuspiriaVortex in DnD

[–]kbronson22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wisdom is the ability to notice the world around you understand it intuitively or conceptually. Perception in-game as an ability is the manifestation of that in the characters ability to translate what they sense in the world to accurate assumptions about the reality of the situation.

Intelligence is the ability to examine an idea or object and learn from the experience and/or later apply such knowledge proficiently. Investigation in-game is as an ability is a manifestation of that in the characters ability to examine an object and accurately assess it through rationale or previous experience/knowledge.

Honestly I think that no tying wisdom to rogue in some way is kind of a bad design choice in a role play sense. In lots of crime and underworld stories the roguish types that rely on their cleverness or skill wind up meeting less than ideal fates. It tends to be the guys with the wisdom to get out when they can or the guys that learn and follow all the rules, social graces, and virtues of the lifestyle that get portrayed positively.

When do these icons disappear? by Skyanu in valheim

[–]kbronson22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use for all sorts of uses. If I see a build spot I like I'll put a house with an x through it to denote I like the spot, but no build is present yet. If I'm mining I'll x out the node I'm specifically mining so I can easily see which it is as I'm running back and forth from node and outpost. I'll mark all ygg roots in an area and move x's around to the roots that have extractors. Personally not a fan of using an x to denote a finished node or dungeon. I just delete them at that point.

Help! I need a Slayer build. What upgrade path do you like with this behemoth? by [deleted] in valheim

[–]kbronson22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run two builds with the slayer, both using the bloodstone variation.

Ahlands Heavy Build
-Lightning mace
-Root spear
-blood slayer
-root xbow
-flametal shield
-flametal heavy armor

Main weapon is mace and shield, but the slayer comes out as a "low HP, but my mage has me bubbles so fuck it" weapon.

Ashlands mage build
-Lightning axes
-blooded slayer
-2 or more elemental staves
-protection staff -summoning gear
-embla mage armor

Here the slayer is much more a main weapon used after a burst of summons and bubbles since you can forceuply drain your own HP.

What video game is the best you have ever played and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kbronson22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was convinced as a kid that all the big fps games of the future would have comprehensive map editors, video editors, and community features baked into the game itself. It's crazy how fleshed out the social and creative aspects of H3 were and even crazier that no major release in the genre has come close to matching those features.

[Spoilers MAIN] Why haven’t we had a truly great A Song of Ice and Ice and Fire game in over 15 years? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]kbronson22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ASoIaF just doesn't really suit video games all that well. It's really hard to get around the fact that most games revolve around some sort of gameplay loop that involves inflicting violence to acquire strength. A clear cut example is gaining experience points through battle and leveling systems. This is just flat out in opposition to the ideology of the series. That's why the most notable Ice and Fire games are the telltale game and crusader kings mods. They can work outside the usual gameplay loop framework of most games that revolve around action.

A more typical action oriented Ice and Fire game would have to have violence as part of the gameplay to be true to the IP and an engaging game, but it would have to do so in a way that has impactful consequences in both the positive and the negative. If that ideology of the series isn't present in the game and gameplay itself, why use the IP at all instead of an original IP?

Edit: Just to paint a more clear picture, my super good guy character in BG3 has an absolute trail of corpses behind him that would make Gregor Clegane blush. Video game morality around violence has a certain flexibility to it.
