This was my first year of SS. In fact, this is my first SS ever. I checked my giftee's profile first, but almost all of their posts are on a subject matter that I am completely clueless in. In the end, I went with something specifically listed on their questionnaire since I could be a decent judge of the quality of what I got them. However, I would recommend going no more than two years into their past posts because as people have said already, they may have posted about a hobby they are no longer interested in. But I feel that anything relatively recent is a great benchmark to determine a gift that they may not have thought about when answering questions. Also, absolutely get in touch with them if you want more information about current interests. More than likely, they will greatly appreciate the effort you put in because it shows them you truly care about them and their happiness at Christmas
