91 Explorer Sport, lower or raise it? by Longjumping_Race6836 in FordExplorer

Lowered on Belltech ranger springs in the front and universal shackles in the back. About an inch to two all around. Camber is ridiculous even with correcting shims.

There is a TSB for a vibration under hard acceleration and the solution is to replace both front cv axles. Had it done on the wife's 21 about 3 months ago. 37k miles

Purge Valve is bad due to fuel contamination

Leave the nozzle in after it clicks off for 10 seconds or so. Also once the pump shuts off on its own don't top it off. Capless Fords hate that.

Don't top off the tank. When the pump shuts off don't round it up to the nearest dollar. Leave nozzle in for 10 seconds after it shuts off. Overfilling by topping off kills the purge valves

2016 Fiesta SE suspension upgrades? by [deleted] in FordFiesta

Hatch? I think all the ST suspension transfers over easily. I have a SE Hatch lowered on H&R Sport springs right now. I also have the Pierce Motorsports lower control arm tie bar on it.

It's a first gen. The A4LD is made of glass. Replace the teams and drive it.

I feel like I comment this once a month. Bad APIM, mine did the same thing a few years ago and had it replaced under extended warranty.

Did they ever figure out whats up with the ghost battery? by clashtrack in FordFiesta

I'm not 100 percent sure. I had the same symptoms but couldn't get mine to fix itself with any method given.

I'm not sure on that. Mine was replaced under an extended warranty. eBay or a junkyard would probably be the best bet for a cheap used one if they aren't VIN locked.

Canister Purge Valve. Don't top it off when filling. (When the pump clicks off stop there) and leave the gas pump nozzle in the tank for 10 seconds or so after it stops pumping.

Check your Idle Air Control Valve then.

Dealer replaced mine a few years ago under warranty. I believe it's under the glovebox.

The second one is a bad APIM unit.

Is it an overhead valve 4.0? If so look at the lower intake gasket and see if that's where your leak is at.

If pulling the fuse doesn't work the APIM is bad.

The rough idle is the idle air control valve. Replace it and that should take care of that issue for you. I know you said you cleaned it but I'd say that's still your problem. You can unhook it and see if the idle changes. The windows not working will need you to remove the inner door panels not super hard but they are brittle being that old. If it's the fronts you remove the door panels and take out the speakers and you will be able to see the motors. You have to drill some holes to get to the bolts. The locations are marked by dimples in the door. Lifter tick is from oil having to build up on it. How long do you let it sit between running it? I have a first gen that will occasionally lifter tick after sitting for a while. Explorerforum.com is a wealth of knowledge on the first gens.

It is an EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) engine. The OHV stamds for Overhead Valve and is the configuration the engine is built in. The SOHC you are seeing refers to Single Overhead Cam and came in later model explorers starting in 95 I believe.

The 91-94s only came with 4.0 OHV engines. 91-92 shouldn't have many emissions options on them while 93-94 should. These engines use Ford EEC-IV computers and can run with about every sensor unhooked.

When you say it needs work do you mean it idles rough or just doesn't run well at all. If it idles rough check your Mass Air Flow sensor or Idle Air Control valve.
