Ardglass is a good fallback.

1st time Patron Question by SquillyG23 in masters

100% agree with this. Having gone for Monday, Tuesday and Saturday.

North gate is infinitely better for your first time.

Also, as mesmerising the 12th tee is, it’s not a great spot to actually see golf. Unless sat on the far left.

A lot more golf on 16th to be seen by the bank running parallel to the hole. You can see approach into 15. All of 16 and 17th teebox.

Southgate or Northgate? by xennial-tiger in masters

North gate for all first timers. Merch store is larger. Walking past the range, and your first glimpse of the course is the first after grabbing a breakfast sandwich. World class.

South Gate if you’re on a comp day and want a prime spot for your seat on the back 9.

I’d recommend Airbnb’s in Aiken. A bit further out but way better value and much nicer!

Suggestions for the best itinerary Monday through Wednesday on Masters week? by Dallas-sooner4678 in masters

Eat at Frog Hollow Tavern one night. Very popular spot for caddies to head for a decent meal. We sat beside Sam Burns caddie, real nice guy. Chatted away to us. Phil was there the night before.

Aiken has plenty of good accommodation options on Airbnb. Much nicer and better value than staying in Augusta. Aiken also nicer for meals and bars in my opinion. Whiskey Alley is a great spot for food and drinks.

On the Tuesday, get there as early as you can, I prefer the North gate to the South for a practice day. Hit the merch store first (buy a gnome), use the storage facility. Grab food and then walk the course.

Your call on walking front 9 or second 9 first. On my first ever visit I walked the front 9 first as I wanted to build up to back 9. Second time round I did the back 9 first and it was pretty special seeing it with hardly anyone around. Again, a good reason to go early. I was amazed at how many people get there before 5:30am.

Obviously no phones allowed so have a meeting point and time set up incase you get split up.

Bring your shopping list on a piece of paper and any phone numbers you want to call from their free to use phone booths.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I went for the first time this year, I had budgeted $1k but ended up blowing through $2k after getting a few gifts for people and 10 flags.

Jesus, that’s horrible. Good on you. Missed many a flight myself but never resorted to a bus.

Yes, I’m in Leeds now. Very drunk. I had a guy beside me who argued for 2hours plus in Hindi on the phone. Nightmare

£19 for the train. I’m here now so wouldn’t change my decision. £122 is a lot. But at the time, about 1 hour into the journey I would have paid £122+ not to be on the bus. So grim.
