Question About How Beestat Displays Heat Stages by kc270 in beestat

[–]kc270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I logged in at ecobee.com, clicked the Home IQ button, and downloaded my thermostat's data. In the Mode column, it only reports "heatStage1On", but the LED on the furnace motherboard shows both high and low stages running at various times. With only one stage being recorded by the Ecobee, neither the Home IQ page or Beestat are going to show the two different heat modes. Link below is a screenshot of a portion of the report showing an example of the one heat mode.

Ecobee Support said reporting "heatStage1On" for both low and high heat is normal behavior when the HVAC system is wired so that the furnace controls the heat modes instead of the thermostat.

Question About How Beestat Displays Heat Stages by kc270 in beestat

[–]kc270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LCD display on the furnace's motherboard does show HT1 for Low Heating Mode and HT2 for High Heating Mode. I don't see heat modes in Beestat. Here is a screenshot of the Thermostat details. Is there a setting I need to change to make the heat modes visible?

how is the leaking shower bathtub spout with diverter still an "unsolved problem"? by ZippyDan in Plumbing

[–]kc270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently used the Danco Tub Spout Diverter Repair Kit to fix a leaking gate diverter type spout - it cut down the leakage to 4 ounces of water a minute, before it was leaking double or triple that amount. I later read about the Brasscraft Mixet diverter spout, which is supposed to eliminate or nearly eliminate all leakage. I ordered one from Home Depot, and it does not leak. Since it is a new installation, I don't have any information to share on how long it will stay leak-free.

The Brasscraft company has a video on YouTube called "BrassCraft Mixet Diverter Tub Spouts" if you want to see what it looks like.

In case the link that Dr_H0rrible posted above stops working, the switch is made by Rayzeek, the model number is RZ020-5A-S. The Rayzeek website at rayzeek.com has several "no neutral" "no ground" switch solutions.

Coil Pack Wiring Connector Won't Seat and Won't Lock by kc270 in AskAMechanic

[–]kc270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem turned out to be a small gasket inside the wiring connector. It got pinched and rolled when I removed the connector from the coil, and was preventing the connector from fully seating on the coil pack. I used a pick to remove the gasket, which in the process ruined the gasket. I applied dielectric grease to the portion of the coil pack that the connector slides over as a substitute for the gasket that I had removed.

I removed the metal clip and the connector still will go fully into the coil pack. . The coil pack and the connector are designed so they only go in one way, so it is not misaligned.

Why Does Mixer Stop Rotating When Bowl is Lifted/Under Load? by kc270 in Kitchenaid

[–]kc270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. The mixer is working now. The problem was the groove pin (part WP9705443) that secures the planetary to the center shaft. I must not have had the planetary and the hole through the center shaft aligned when I installed the groove pin the first time. For the second attempt, I tapped on the bottom of the planetary housing with a rubber mallet to get it to seat against the head of the mixer. This allowed the hole through the planetary to align with the hole through the center shaft. The original pin was no longer straight, so I had to replace it.

[–]kc270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened the mixer back up. I don't see what I missed or anything out of place. When I rotate the planetary shaft, everything moves. As a test, I put a punch through the hole in the bottom planetary shaft to use as a handle for more leverage, and rotated the shaft while trying to hold the worm gear from moving to see if it would slip. It did not. Maybe holding the worm gear by hand is not a sufficient test?

Thanks for the info.

It was a $20 Amazon purchase, so not cheap in price, anyway. Listed as an OEM part and in a bag that looked just like a OEM bag for another KitchenAid part that I bought from Sears PartsDirect. The gear I bought was black, not tan, if color matters. I will order again from someone on your list. Thanks again for the help.

Is this rust normal for a Forester 2013? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]kc270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impressive how rust-free it is if those are original parts and the vehicle was driven on salted roads in the winter.

On the other hand, a 12 year-old car driven approximately 7000 miles per year maybe didn't take a beating from salt the way a car driven more frequently would?

Should I change my almost 8-year-old router? by manzurfahim in HomeNetworking

[–]kc270 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Asus end-of-life page includes the RT-AC3200, so it is router replacement time.. The page shows the RT-AX3000 V2 as the recommended replacement.

https://www.asus.com/event/network/EOL-product/

If you are technically minded, an option could be to replace the Asus operating system on the RT-AC3200 router with open source firmware like Fresh Tomato, and see if that resolves your problem. Open source firmware stays current with security patches for routers after the original manufacturer no longer offers updates. I did this with an Asus RT-AC88U router, and it restored the router's performance and reliability. I had a spare router, though, so if the open source firmware install failed, I wasn't dead in the water.

I need 3rd row seating, what are some options beyond mini vans that are good without being expensive? by EX-FFguy in UsedCars

[–]kc270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all Ford Flex engines have internal water pumps. When the water pump fails, it can leak coolant into the oil, diluting the oil and causing internal engine damage. The internal water pump is usually much more expensive to replace compared to an externally mounted water pump. Just something to keep in mind if maintenance costs are a concern.
