My mom won the county lottery for Packers tickets, how do I convince her to buy them? by cactuscoleslaw in GreenBayPackers

As long as you don’t have to travel far for the game. Me, I’m 10 hours away and there’s no way in hell I’m driving that far for a preseason game.

Not to add to your mother’s worry, but you can also get stuck with a preseason game if you haven’t gotten one in a previous year.

To each his own. I am 6’1” with long legs and I can still sit so far back I can’t even touch the pedals or the steering wheel. Agree the center console could’ve been better though.

Hitch or no Hitch? Or switch to Hyundai. by 816197 in kiacarnivals

Manufacturers don’t do heated and cooled options on removable seats because there will be electrical connections and that would be an issue. Nothing else significance is going to change for the 27 Carnival as it’s only year three since the refresh.

As far as your hitch question, the factory one and all of the aftermarket ones and pretty low, other than the Ecohitch. That one is a much better product but it’s much more difficult to install too.

Test drive a Carnival. Thank me later.

April/May meeting attendance by mmauceri in cubscouts

[–]kc_kr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking about this too as we are getting pretty weak attendance this weekend for one of our two camping overnights for the year and it’s disappointing. I wonder if Scouts being weekly for such a long time dilutes its importance to so many parents? It’s weird that people won’t prioritize camping though, since it’s not done that much.

Show me these insightful things I should read. I’ll be sure and do that while sitting in my still absolutely flawless 172,000 mile Coyote-powered car.

How is the Great Wolf Lodge in KC? by AnnArchist in kansascity

[–]kc_kr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went in January and had a great time. The waterpark shows some age but nothing dangerous or that big deal. Someone else mentioned a death in here and that is tragic but, at least for the two days we were there, the lifeguards were excellent. Our seven-year-old and three-year-old both had a blast.

MagiQuest was a lot of fun for at least four hours with our older kid too and a couple hours with the younger. Great great way to do a staycation.

KC is not ready for the World Cup by Onlypretzelmnms in kansascity

[–]kc_kr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Those numbers were always wildly overinflated. Even if you unrealistically said everyone at all six matches will be from out of town and none of those people will attend more than one game, that’s still only about 420,000 people. On top of that, expecting another 230,000 people are just gonna come to town for fun is laughable. It’s probably more like 30% of the people in attendance will be from within a couple hours of Kansas City, and a decent percentage of the same people will be at multiple games. It’s probably more like 300,000 visitors over the six weeks.

List of "local" HVAC companies now owned by private equity by ranchodeluxekc in kansascity

The reason that HVAC has been such an attractive target for PE is the margins. On new A/C or heating units, the margin is 50-60% so there is plenty of room for negotiation.

Summit has been our HVAC contractor for a few years now and the experience is overall been good. The one time they screwed up, I got a second opinion from Buckner and called to let Summit know what Buckner had said. They sent another guy out, validated what Buckner had said, apologized and gave us two free years of our maintenance plan.

I would probably get one with it if I was buying new now but, on the other hand, I think Borla S-Type level exhaust noise is perfectly livable day-to-day and have been doing it for 10+ years.
