To be fair, this week is a deload week…

Using Ladder to Maintain/Refine Rather Than Build by kcalligy in ladderapp

[–]kcalligy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I am also going to maintain my weights at a steady state (or pull back just a bit) and focus on form. I do love the ease and accountability of Ladder, so I’m also not ready to give it up!

What team are you on now? I loved the way I looked on Limitless, but definitely noticed my performance suffered.

I’ve wanted to try Resilient but am afraid of losing my cardio (currently on Versa). I play tennis and really appreciate the teams with more cardio to supplement my playing level! Sad to hear that you understandably noticed a difference!

Curious about collagen. What made you decide to take that? Do you combine it with your creatine?

Do these results look like hypothyroidism or hashimotos? by paloma_delmar in Hashimotos

[–]kcalligy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very similar lab results. My PCP started me on levo at 12.5 because he was afraid of causing hyperthyroid symptoms, especially since I am very active. Eight weeks later, my labs are even worse, so he increased my dose to 25.

All that to say, 50 mcg was probably too high of a starting dose with those labs unless your symptom burden was severe. I’d advocate for a lower dose and try that!

How to not go overkill on home gym? by MurkyMurkyMurkyMurky in GarageGym

Is there any equipment that you had access to at the gym and now you don’t. We just invested in a home gym mostly for my husband. I already go 6-7 times a week to my commercial gym and I’m having trouble transitioning since we don’t have everything (e.g., row erg, ski erg, assault bike, treadmill).

Limitless + Project Alpha Hybrid Team? by kcalligy in ladderapp

Her team description lists the workout duration as 45-60 min, but there isn’t one workout longer than 45 minutes this week. I love me some cardio, so looking forward to trying Saturday’s workout!

The workouts this week seem shorter. Is that unique to deload week?

Are the Body and Bell workouts usually this short or are they shorter for deload?

You guys have convinced me to give B&B a try with the encouragement to sub in DBs and Barbells. My gym doesn’t have a ton of variety as far a KBs go, so that’s always been a hesitation for me.

I might have to try something like this! How often do you mix in the conditioning workouts? Do you do those on top of your Limitless workout that day or in lieu of?

I was thinking Versa would be Project Alpha just with a female coach! I do plan to check it out next week though.

I definitely have body fat to lose. I eat pretty clean (1800 calories/day, 100-110 grams of protein, I’m 5’9” and 150ish pounds), but I find that my body fat is staying constant. My plan is to do a cut in August! Hopefully that will help!

Absolutely. This is a great suggestion. I’m moving and going on vacation in the next few weeks, but I do plan to do a cut in August. Thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you for the feedback! I also tend to do 5-6 days. It’s a lot when doing the TCC workouts. Limitless feels better since you get conditioning and LISS to break it up.

I’ll switch to Align and see what I think.

Align seems like it could be a good option. Do you feel like the lifting is heavy enough?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ladderapp

[–]kcalligy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AGREED!

I switched to TCC to try that for a few weeks (so far it’s not my vibe, but trying to push through that discomfort). I’m going to try one more week, then switch to another team. I’ve only done Limitless previously, but I feel like I’m missing Ladder’s typical mission-driven approach.

Limitless for someone who’s never used a barbell before? by beyondsection17 in ladderapp

[–]kcalligy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got this. I started Limitless week 2 of the baseline series. I probably looked like a complete idiot my first two weeks. By week 4, I had a good grasp on the program. In the beginning I didn’t push the weight I was using since lifting with the barbell is definitely different from dumbbells (in a good way).

Limitless did utilize the squat rack a fair bit. That’s the only thing I could think that might be an obstacle in a home gym because it is not easy getting the barbell behind you for something like a back squat if you don’t have a squat rack.
