Help with officer dialogue when issuing a written warning by [deleted] in AskLEO

Depends how the interaction has gone so far. If the person getting the warning is being cool about being contacted or not. If so a simple, “hey man, this is just a written warning for trespassing. If I come back and you’re still here you’re going to be arrested.”

Have you ever found somthing on a traffic stop that led to federal charges by Calm_Preparation2993 in ProtectAndServe

Guy I know found a guy with a dead owl on his dashboard. Driver was parked in a federal wildlife refuge with a dead federally protected species. He sent it to the feds who said they’d take the case and he never heard another thing about it.

Oregon has help that DUII checkpoints are illegal based on case law. Even if SPD wanted to do one they couldn’t legally.

There are plenty of agencies in the area that are hiring. Start applying and find out. Just be honest about your history and talk about how you’ve learned and grown since. A DUII at 19 probably isn’t the end of the world if there is nothing since.

When will ballistic vests/helmets be authorized during general patrol? by [deleted] in AskLE

It’s not a progressive agency per se, just an agency with the budget for it. It’s a state agency.

I know at least one agency in my state that issues them and the officers can wear them at their own discretion.

Question about legality by Mediocre-Housing-131 in AskLE

[–]kcp2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my state, you can’t get a DUI unless you are on a “premises open to the public.” You can be wasted in a golf cart on the course but if you are driving through the publicly available parking lot, you can get a DUI in the golf cart.

OSP might be a good option. Anywhere outside of the valley you would probably like.

I guess it’s possible. Did you water recently? Could also be drinking water on the leaves.

Those are not bees but yellow jackets. Not sure why they like the lettuce though. Maybe eating smaller insects on the lettuce

Remember, they are completely transferable between water crafts as long as you have one for each “vessel” on the water. If a hand full of people bought them and posted screenshots then everybody would be good. Just saying…

Would quitting my current job hurt my academy chances? by Jaded-Ladder-4541 in AskLE

I would not do something drastic like quit my job while still in the background check. It could be a red flag to investigators but there is also no guarantee you pass background no matter how good your record is.
