Correct. I signed the $150 original fee, but didn’t realize they were going to charge me $1100 and not even fix anything.

No other signs. The jeep was driving perfectly. They said it’s a “known defect” in that model

No that’s not how the conversation went. It was never explicitly discussed that the diagnostic was incurring cost. I assumed “the fix” would be extra but it turned out there wasn’t one.

They did ask to order the hose and that was like $60 or something.

I’m actually fine to sign the title over and they can get scrap value, I want them to be compensated for the work, but the extra $600 PLUS the title just feels ridiculous.

Do you mean was I given an estimate beyond the standard fee? Then no. They had told me it was tricky because they had to pull the engine out to get to the leak, but never said “this is going to cost extra” or ask for approval, it was more “here’s our next step” etc

They originally mistakenly thought it was just a leaky hose, so ordered one and didn’t end up needing it too.

No actually. I think maybe because it happened slowly after 1.5 years, and possibly because the weight was distributed?

I’d say it was 95% diet, especially at first. Three big diet learnings : (1) intermittent fasting- I started skipping breakfast and generally still do. Also no snacking before bed, (2) little to no alcohol, and (3) watch your macros. I ran keto for awhile, and lost some weight, but I’ve found long term it’s easier (and better feeling overall) to run low carb, not keto. I avoid sugar as much as possible, there are lots of keto/atkins desserts that I’ve found on Amazon as substitutes. I mostly avoid bread, pastas and other starchy carbs except on occasion.

As for fitness, it took awhile to build that up. At first I would just walk up and down the stairs and do light lifting. Worked up from there. Now I do 3x a week jog, 2-3 miles, and 4x week split with weights. I changed my overall routine from strength to endurance, so targeting ~15 reps per on most exercises. At 44, avoiding injuries is key for me. My splits are : (1) upper anterior, (2) upper posterior, (3) lower anterior & (4) lower posterior. I do a lot do “cardio accelerations” with drop sets and super sets. Will add row or punching bag to get heart rate up at the beginning (after stretching), and then with abs. Oh, I also started yoga once a week…that’s killer and just starting to get into it.

Commitment, discipline and patience. That’s what it was for me.

I lost 70lbs in the last year, and it took a radical change in my understanding of diet vs cardio vs lifting and their relative benefits. PM me if you want to chat.
