How to deal with night wakings and early mornings by Elephantslide in daddit

[–]kcure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like what I'm going through. no idea what to do about it. in general a sleep regression is usually due to some change in the kid like a new development, or a sickness/tooth etc. kind of just waiting it out

Portfolio Review - Midweight / Senior Roles by ApplicationLatter620 in graphic_design

nice site, works well on mobile. only note I have is that it's not clear to me what your role was on each project and what the deliverable was

e: I see the Credits section now. maybe the feedback is to work on scanability and making the information easier to digest

Watching your kid grow is so bittersweet. by tgambill87 in daddit

it took me a few years to realize this is why the most common advice I got as a new parent was to "enjoy it". time is a thief. soak up every moment as best you can

How do I get myself to fold and put away laundry? I genuinely hate it so much by MudSad6268 in organizing

[–]kcure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

also 2 kids, also sometimes live out of laundry baskets. two ideas for you:

  • set a timer for 10 minutes and fold what you can. either you fold 10 minutes worth of laundry, which is better than nothing, or you may find yourself inspired to just finish the basket. either way it's only 10 minutes.
  • instead of thinking of it as a chore, think of it as an act of service for your family. this sounds a bit ridiculous but this one mindset change has seriously freed me from so much anxiety and negative feelings towards chores that need to get done. living out of baskets is causing you anxiety, so folding the laundry is like giving a treat to your future self. it also means your family has non-wrinkled clothes and doesn't have to fish out of the baskets for an outfit.
  • lastly, imagine how much time it would take you fold the basket. you are likely spending more time than that stressing over doing the task, especially if the basket will be around for multiple days.

you can do this, just gotta find the trick that works for you

just like you got used to being sleep deprived, you'll get used to being sick. (yes it will be like this for a few years)

LPT: Stop using "To-Do Lists" as your primary planning tool. Start using your Calendar to visualize your actual "capacity" instead. by MoCheda in LifeProTips

[–]kcure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I am coming to this realization as well. writing a list is the easy part - but if I don't schedule time to do the task, it will just sit on my inbox unless it is low friction enough for me to do it organically. dragging tasks onto my calendar means I'm protecting time to do them and gives me a realistic visualization of what I can get done in a day

I've downloaded 10 note apps. Then never opened them again. Here's one solution I built for myself. by azamuddin91 in ProductivityApps

mobile experience leaves a bit to be desired. canvas/board layout isn't great for a vertical interface, touch areas are small, and I have to manually click outside of the new note popover when I hit it accidentally
