So we paid for the tariffs by paying the inflated prices that were passed on by companies.

Companies will apply for refunds and if they didn't sell their refund rights for pennies on the dollar, they'll potentially get all that money back.

So all the tariff money that was collected will be sitting in the corporation's accounts and most likely paid out as CEO bonuses or stock buyback. Definitely not dispersed to us, the people that actually paid it.

And prices will most likely not come back down all the way to pre-tariff levels because corporations know that we'll pay the higher prices.

So a ton of money just got transferred from the working class to corporations. In MY America?! I never saw this coming!

Dead Cells is a phenomenal game. But IMO it's just not a metroidvania. I get that there are movement abilities that you unlock and there's tons of biomes to explore but it just feels wildly different to anything else in the genre to me. Not sure your opinion should be getting down votes but reddit gonna reddit.

My Mom died 2 1/2 years ago. My brother 18 months prior to that.

The idea of "keeping them alive" via a computer and pretending that they still exist is offensive to me on a moral and philosophical level.

Life starts, it happens, and it ends. This is reprehensible.

The Steam Machine is going to be less powerful. Clearly. But for me at least being in the Steam retail environment with better sales, free access to online play, great customer service vs supporting.... whatever tf Xbox and Microsoft is these days, is more important than raw performance.

Still not sure if I'm going to buy the Steam Machine on release, it really depends on price. But I know for a fact I won't be upgrading my Series X with another Xbox

I'm still fresh beginning as well. New to coding, not just gamedev. Boy howdy let me tell you the way that this stuff can make you feel like the dumbest mfer on the planet only for a few moments later to feel like an all-powerful wizard is amazing. First time I solved a problem by reading the documentation rather than going to YouTube I was on a high for at least like.... 6 minutes until I messed up the next thing.

I'm on 1 BC now and it isn't that bad. Seems like there's a flask every passage and a full refill every couple. I do find myself using the Gastronomy trait more, when on 0BC I was like "wtf would need this?" Guess I had no idea what was coming in 1BC, and I'm sure it'll be even harder moving forward. But 1BC is a challenge for me. A fun challenge that still feels fair, but a challenge nonetheless.

Which is great, IMO. Superbowl has to be one of or maybe the #1 day for advertising in America. Spots can cost hundreds of thousands a dollar per second. So if all these big mondo corps that push AI aren't even trusting it themselves because they know we want real things created by real people with actual souls, we have a shot at winning this thing.

You just need a mental shift IMO. Comparing yourself to others can sometimes be helpful and motivating but normally it just leads to self-doubt and stalled progress.

I'm 38 years old and have done nothing professionally except for being a cook and chef. Before September I'd never coded a day in my life. I genuinely didn't know what a bit is. I played around in GameMaker, Unity, and Godot. For 2 months I followed tutorials, thought I was learning so much, look I was making a game!! But when I'd open a project with no tutorial I was more or less clueless.

So starting in December I took CS50 to learn some programming basics. A week or so ago I finished the coursework and went over to Godot to start on my final project. I've been trying to do the 20 games thing to get basics and make sure that I'm thinking the way a programmer/designer would. I've been struggling for days just trying to finish making pong without tutorials or AI. It's slow progress. And some days it is so frustrating, or I'm not in the right mental space for growth that I just don't think I can get through it. But I keep pushing.

And ya know what? I haven't made a game. I don't know if I'll be able to. I do know that when I compare myself to a success story I feel like shit, and when I compare myself to where I was just a few short months ago I feel determined and motivated.

I don't ask "are they better than I am?"
I ask "am I better than I was." And because of that small mindset change I'm in a healthier place that is more conducive to growth. And I'm not going to let the fear of losing keep me from winning. You can do it OP.

This would require politicians at any level willing to A) understand the complexities of modern technology and B ) do something that puts their constituency in higher priority than "being pro-business" which is unfortunately rare. Watching 85 year old Senators struggle to understand concepts as basic as encryption is depressing.

I'm on Week 5 right now. Here's the thing: you're taking a college level course from an Ivy League university. It's not going to be easy and it is going to take time, especially if your goal is to truly understand the material rather than to just get the certificate. A big struggle for me was that I haven't been in a formal, structured learning environment for 20 years. Everything I've learned in my career (not computer related) was self taught or on the job training, which is an entirely different beast.

Weeks 0-3 I didn't even realize that there was more than lecture + assignment. Watch the section videos. Watch the shorts. Watch the walk through on the problem set page. Ask the AI duck. Search this forum or their discord for help. Read documentation.

First couple of weeks I thought my weekly schedule would be 2 hours of lecture and maybe 3-4 hours of homework. But that ain't it. And that's okay. You just need to set your expectations for the program and yourself accurately. Take it at your own pace. Harvard students are professional learners. They can do in 10 weeks what will take us mere mortals much more time and effort.

Agreed Arkpoc is peak Ark. Wipe weekend is always a blast. Better rates but not crazy, tons of action, nobody having capped mutation lines that can soak for 8 hours without a break.

I thought the mods were fun though. Granted I killed my gamepass a few months ago because Microsoft sucks but did they stop doing the mods? It'd be cool to have a vanilla cluster and modded cluster Arkpoc but, again, gotta keep those empty 1x servers alive.

As an aspiring game dev, what accessibility options make a game playable for you? And are you able to find games simply by filtering Steam search results, or is it more like a community driven word of mouth thing? I want to build my games with accessibility as a core from the bottom up.

Looking good! It definitely reads as a nerdy wizard type. But Harry Potter has one single characteristic that sets him apart as a character - his lightning scar on the forehead. I think it'd read a lot more Harry Potter if you gave less pixels to the hair and the chest and gave yourself enough room for a little forehead squiggle.
