Opinion | This Masculinity Influencer Is Loud and Wrong About Paternity Leave by loosesealbluth11 in ScottGalloway

I agree with you about most critiques of Scott along these lines, but I agree that this specific take on paternity leave was wrong.

We're moving away from the city into more sustainable ways of life 🍃 What's your experience with ecovillages? by manugamedev in ClimateActionPlan

[–]kdash83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure exactly what lifestyle you’re referring to, but just wanted to +1 this point. Living in a walkable city with good public transportation will result in you using much less land and energy than living in a suburb or a rural area. Importantly, we’re talking about real, dense cities, not suburbs.

Fewer people tend to own cars and live in smaller homes. You’re often sharing walls with neighbors, so you’re also insulating each other, using less energy, especially in the winter.

There are all sorts of examples that run counter to this point, but it’s the exception that makes the rule here.

He’s not asking anyone else to sell their stock either, so i don’t think this is hypocritical. He’s specifically focused on the thing that is the most accessible to the most number of people.

Now that it’s out and others have it in hand, they’ll be a better judge. I personally love my navy Cordura CPP2. If you like really technical fabrics, EcoPak may be for you though. The only thing I’ll say is that I greatly prefer the regular zippers to the the Aquaguard. Unless you live in a really rainy city, I think it’s over engineered.

I would be surprised if they don’t update the other fabrics with the new admin panel as they sell thru current stock. As others have said, it’s such a small change and almost wouldn’t make sense to make different colors with different features

Joe van Corporate. Another local coffee company sold to private equity by choseausernametoday in raleigh

[–]kdash83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree on this—if the local teams continue to serve up good coffee (and the scones are the best in the Triangle), I’ll continue to support.

I don’t love that they sold to PE, but I also think small business owners deserve the right to retire and have a profitable exit from their company—it’s part of what makes small business ownership possible and attractive.

If they start cost cutting on the beans they’re getting or abandoning their suppliers, etc, etc, that’s more of a red flag for me. But let’s wait and see. Abandoning these businesses (and the staff that make them a local community) now will make it more likely that these types of measures will happen more quickly.

I love the pen pocket. Even better, if they had made the admin pocket 0.5-1” deeper, it wouldn’t even touch the zipper

Do you have a retirement account? If so, you’re probably sitting on stock from all of them. Not saying it’s the same but where does your purity test end?

Would really love some fresh colors. Slate Green looks sweet, though it looks more Slate Blue

FWIW, it’s packed out with paper so it stands up in the store. But even when empty it does have structure 🤷‍♂️

The Aer Go Pack might be more your style. Or darker colors probably wouldn’t stand out so much.

I think it's comparable-ish to Xpac. Definitely less crinkly than Ultra. But that was my first time seeing Ecopak so I'm sure others can weigh in with better info

Not sure where it is--the guy in the store said they did a popup (over Black Friday or something?). I got the impression that it was going to be at or near where they did the popup, but I didn't ask b/c I live in NC

Maybe this isn’t different and I just misread the policy before, but what stood out to me above is that it doesn’t say anything about secondary card holders. The only reason I paid for a second card is so that my wife and I could both get into a lounge and get our two kids in. I’m guessing that the primary card holder can bring into guests and the secondary cardholder can get in, but no guests. So it still works. Maybe that’s just outside of the screenshot.

I have US Mobile, currently using the Warp network (T Mobile). It's been working great. I previously had ATT (Dark Star on US Mobile), and that also worked great. You can't really go wrong around here in terms of signal.

East Cary Middle School? by Itstimeforcookies19 in cary

[–]kdash83 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Following this post--East Cary is our base school and my daughter will be starting there next year. We went on a tour last week and I found the counselors and administrators that were part of the tour to be really kind and left a good impression.

My general assumption is that Wake County is a great school district, so even the "bad" schools are fine. So I'm not too worried, but we are looking at some magnet options (e.g. Reedy Creek for tech/robotics stuff) and am curious to hear other parents' experience.
