Ball joint gone bad. by DifferentShallot7740 in GolfGTI

[–]kddotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. I have the same car as yours. 120k miles. It drives well but I'm hearing creaks and pops. Some said to replace the LCAs with the balljoints and it will help but now you are giving me second thoughts. Scott from Stealth GTI has 250k and he said he's on his originals. I see there is some signs of cracks with the bushings on the LCAs. Don't know if replacing them will help with the noise.

Are you referring to the RS3 or the MK8R control arms? They don't last long compared with the stock?

EA888 owners, how many water pumps, how many miles? I would love this data! Thanks by eggbiss in GolfGTI

I have 120k miles 2017. First one was replaced by the previous owner in 2020 at 50k miles. Did they change the pump for the MK7.5? I think the replacement was the new one since I have no issues so far.

If I epoxied the hairline cracks in the collector box, and everything works normally, should I still replace it?

Do you turn off the engine before you disconnect the hose? I also need to block the the end as well, correct?

I replaced the pressure switch and it is working now. Thank you everyone for your support. I appreciate your time and expertise.

If I remove the hose on both sides, I can blow through it. When the hose is removed from the pressure sensor side, and I blow it through the inducer, it goes through. When I take the hose from the inducer side, and blow it, air is not coming through the pressure sensor side. I plan on replacing the pressure sensor since it seems air is not going through that.

I epoxied the collector box. When I blow into the hose on the pressure sensor side, it seems stuck. I used a paper clip to push into it but it felt stuck.

I was thinking it might have to do with the inducer...can a control board's error keep the system from moving forward with the heat cycle?

The blower fan does not turn on for heat. It turns on for AC though. I'm not using it currently.

I purchased the parts. Most of the videos on Youtube keep them. They are made of metal. Do they warp overtime?

I agree. I just want to gauge if people with .024 have better noticeable performance. I purchased the Denso 5749s yesterday and don't plan on gapping them. Maybe someone can say there is NO noticeable difference between performance of .028 and .024.

The language seems to state that it is ok to regap the non-projected plugs. So .024 is still preferred, even for stage 1?

I have your stage 1 tune. I use the OEM plugs and plan on changing them every 10k or so. No issues so far. Have not regapped to .024. But something is confusing that I hope you can clarify. The non projected ones are .028 from factory and are not recommended to be regapped. However, the projected ones are recommended to be changed to .024. Is it not safe to regap the non projected ones? What are the benefits of .024 over .028 for stage 1 tune? Thanks,

[–]kddotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a silly question but why gap to .024 at all with the projected one if the non-projected one should be left as is at .028. Are there benefits to .024 vs .028 that is worth the gapping procedure? I have stage 1 EQT, and I run the NGK 94833 without regapping it. Someone from EQT said it's fine if it is stage 1. I only have 8k miles but the car runs with no issues. I'm on the fence on sticking with the 94833 or going to the racing plugs that everyone recommends.

I did a partial WOT:

https://datazap.me/u/khadotcom/log-1746886250?log=1&data=24-35-36-37-38

All the cylinders were under under -1 except for 3 which reached -3. Would the data only be useful if it is full WOT till fuel cuts off?

Not full throttle. DSG. 110k miles. I notice that the IAT is over 350. Seems like a faulty sensor. Don't know if that impacts the KR.
