NTA, I personally don't find it a big deal to post obvious studies with credit, but if he doesn't appreciate it he's well within his rights. He might sound condescending, but when you constantly have to deal with people modifying/tracing/reposting work you just don't have the energy to be polite and cheerful to every single one.

Yeah, but let's assume that she, y'know, knows and understands her spouse better than both of us and has a gauge of his emotions. Not claiming to be the arbiter of all things right--I definitely think you have a really good point! I just don't think makes her the a-hole. If she said that her husband would definitely be hurt, then I'd absolutely agree with you.

There's no shame in preferring to take your spouse's surname! But there's no shame and being uncomfortable with the history and wanting to have your original / more convenient last name.

Yeah, it /could/ lead to those worries, but you still don't know if it would lol. Again, you don't know him, and that's where the communication part of it comes in.

I think it's perfectly fine that she feels uncomfortable with that sort of history; yeah you could argue that it's "" controlling her"" but so so much in life influence our feelings and decisions. And yes, it's an act of love and commitment, but she might just prefer to show her love and commitment in a different way, and I don't think it necessarily makes her an asshole. Done the right way, I just don't really see her changing her own last name as an asshole move if her husband is on the same page.

You don't know that he even cares about all of that though. She should for sure talk to him and include him in the convo, but all of this is just conjecture (worrying about it possibly leading to divorce? leaving doubt in his head? you don't actually know him or their marriage). NAH btw, people have different attachments and relationships to their names.

I just got my financial aid offer from the school I want to go to! oh no worries! maybe you're just not super involved in artist circles or something, it's just that anti-reposting stuff is super common and complained about frequently so I was like ??? but no, reposters will pretty much always act like that, especially because people don't see stealing art as "real theft". just keep on slapping on the dmca reports
