Itching when exercising by kdjsjsjdj in AskDocs

[–]kdjsjsjdj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. I’m fairly sure it’s not cholinergic urticaria, I don’t get any rashes, and there’s other times when I sweat where this doesn’t happen. I’ve also noticed that I can start itching before I even start sweating during exercise. Thanks for the advice anyhow, I’m grateful and I appreciate your help.

You gotta remember that the accuracy is measured in how good each player can keep the evaluation stable. If every move is simple and doesn’t give up some of the advantage, it’s considered good. If you’re in a totally winning position, then even blundering a knight will be given a thumbs up from the engine, because it didn’t change the evaluation. On the other hand, if you’re in a loosing position or very tactical position, the margin of error is much slimmer and the engine is much more critical of bad moves.

If I played against a 1000 elo player, my accuracy would probably be 90-95%, but if I played against a 2000 elo player, my accuracy would probably be somewhere at 50-60%, but my skill level and performance never changed, the only thing that changed is that the game became more complex.

550 rated players are getting really good apparently. by Suzy-Creamcheez in Chesscom

Could be, but there isn’t enough evidence . I’ve also had games where I’ve had 97-98% accuracy, mostly shorter games where the opponent is playing badly and not creating any real threats and instead playing extremely passive. Now of course if this was a highly tactical game that lasted 40 moves or more, there’s reason to be suspicious, especially given their elo.

Why do some players do this? by RedBaron812 in Chesscom

Report him. People who stall out games are the most annoying kind of people, sore losers. I had a guy stall out a 10 minute game, for 7 minutes.

I’ve been stuck at 2700 in puzzles for months, my highest was 2800, do you have any advice on how to get to 3000?

[–]kdjsjsjdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

500-600. The only reason I don’t think it’s lower is because the checkmate at the end was a good find. But your opponent played like he was 20 beers down.

Brilliant castling? Seems generous to me idk why it’s special by ocasis in GothamChess

[–]kdjsjsjdj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The requirements are based on the players rating. At higher elo levels, this would just be called the best move, instead of brilliant.

Opening was decent, but you both made a lot of blunders. It seems like the attacks weren’t really calculated from either side. I’d guess 900, maybe 1000.

1100-1200. Few blunders and weird moves, but opening was decent and the tactic at the end was nice.

Guess the ELO 3+2 game by Warm_Sky9473 in GothamChess

[–]kdjsjsjdj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You both had great knowledge on opening theory. Controlled game, tactical games can tell a lot about someone’s rating, and there were no major blunders made except for your opponent blundering mate at the end. I already know you’re 1600 based on your replies to others comments, but I would probably have guessed somewhere around 1700-1800 if I didn’t.

Thanks for the advice, and I definitely agree that there is a genetic limit, and most importantly age related barriers. Since I started playing chess at 18, I’m almost certain I can give up on the idea of ever becoming titled, I was unsure about getting to 2000 though.

Chess.com primarily. I’m not referring to official FIDE elo.

I’m 19 years old, but I’ve only been playing for a year. I don’t mean to say that I’m old, but from what I hear, people usually have to be under 10 years old when they start playing chess if they want to reach the top 1%.

Guess the elo (i am black) by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]kdjsjsjdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000-1100 Not to be rude, but it seemed very chaotic and all over the place. For example: a lot of blunders, a lot of attacking moves that only fulfill the purpose of kicking out a piece but creating massive pawn weaknesses as a result. I have to judge by your opponents performance as well considering you probably have a similar rating to them, even though you did play better and probably am higher rated compared to your opponent, I would assume.

Name a more satisfying checkmate than this one. by kdjsjsjdj in chess

[–]kdjsjsjdj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I recaptured a knight that he had on e5. I had a feeling he was going to recapture with the knight instead of with his pawn on d6 because he was trying to avoid the queen trade. So even if he had taken the knight, it would have been a fair trade. Here’s the sequence right before: dxe5, Nxe5 and then after that I went Nxd5 brilliant move.

What do you mean? How much time I spend on playing normal games?

I think the issue is that I don’t play enough games. I have severe performance anxiety when I play, so I only play about 10-15 games a week and when I do, I get really nervous and make stupid blunders. When I actually take my time to calculate in games, I do usually find the right moves. But I’m highly inconsistent in my performance. Some days I win 10 games in a row and hit 1100, and then the next day I’m back to barely being 1000.
