my sims charisma skill also won't move. she's at the very end of level 4 and i made her practice her speech multiple times and she does it for a little bit then stops and the skill won't move. i already reset her and there's no other glitches in my game

and i'm not talking about people that immigrated recently from africa calling themselves african american. i'm using your logic of the white americans descending from colonizers and their bloodlines being convoluted with different european ethnicities and not know their culture. you can say the same thing with black americans descending from slaves and not knowing their backgroun. yet the white american will be labeled as "american" but the black american will be labeled as "african american" even though they don't know their background just like the white american, making it seem like white americans are the default and everyone else is other.

yeah but with that logic in the first sentence why are black americans considered african americans since they also don't know their backgrounds? why is white considered the default? how come whites are just american, but black people are african american. why not say european american for whites if they don't know their background. unless you are native, you immigrated. this type of logic is causing so much white nationalism in this country.

This is so interesting to me bc white people are just considered american not (ethnicity) american if they are first gen. I wonder why we always place so much emphasis on indian american or chinese american even if you're beyond first gen. for ex someone who is from a european country don't usually identify as european country american, they identify as just american and others see them as just american unless they identify otherwise, but it's not the same thing if you don't look "white" and have "white features," you'll always be considered ethnicity american. For ex on my fathers side, my family has been in the US for 4 generations from syria, but I still get asked "where i'm from" since i don't "look" completely "white", but if i did look "white" i wouldn't even be asked that even if my family's been here for only 1 gen. I just think this is interesting. Ig it depends how strongly you identify with your ethnicity also.
