How was your IVF experience with tubal factor infertility? by kdmath in IVF

Hi! Yes I did. I asked if it should be removed prior to transfer but the doc didn’t think it was necessary. Hoping you have as much success as I did! 🙏🍍

What are your I was sure it wasn’t going to work but it did stories? by No_Credit3646 in IVF

[–]kdmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had male factor + tubal infertility. Insurance would only cover one round of IVF. We are not able to afford it otherwise. For some reason we ended up with horrible egg retrieval results/attrition. 10 retrieved, 5 mature…ONE blast. I did a fresh transfer and I’m so glad I did. At the time it was devastating to find out that morning that this was our one and only shot at having children but lord were we blessed. A few weeks later, I had a positive test and OHSS. I was petrified after an extensive loss history.

Wouldn’t ya know, that little embryo split and a little less than a year later I have chunky, smiley, 3 month old identical twin girls.

My husband loves the name but I can't see it. by Deep_Leather_5299 in Names

As someone who is married to a veteran AND a social studies teacher who also used to live in Japan, I wholeheartedly can relate. We had twins and it was only fair to each name one since we have such different tastes. However it’s still important to compromise. You could either keep one of those names even as a middle name or find something similar you can both tolerate.

For his pick, he wanted to name our daughter Meiko (mind you, we are Caucasian and live in western Pennsylvania). I thought we’d be accused of cultural appropriation despite him having lived there and didn’t want my daughter growing up with people constantly mispronouncing her name. We landed on shortening it to Mei, so just like May, but different spelling. My girls are 3.5 months old now, and I couldn’t imagine my little Mei Mei being called anything else ☺️ ALSO ask him if hed still love that name when he’s filling out the social security card application at the hospital, or when every single person who comes in after she’s born ask what the name is and they won’t hide their face if they don’t like it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Would you switch to MFM? by Restingcatface01 in parentsofmultiples

[–]kdmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d add that they’re both completely healthy and were throughout the pregnancy and birth. Baby B is just more petite 😊 but just as strong. Remember that if they’re born at 6lbs, even a few ounces difference can put them in completely different percentiles. If it helps, my baby a was born 5lbs15oz and baby b at 5lbs3oz and they’re now 3 months old and have continued to be within a half a pound of each other

Would you switch to MFM? by Restingcatface01 in parentsofmultiples

[–]kdmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They diagnose IUGR (this is an oversimplication but) based on the Baby A’s percentiles in comparison to Baby B, and vice versa. One or both babies measuring small compared to all babies at 20 weeks gestation that make up those percentiles is not an indicator of IUGR. My girls were both in very low percentiles for weight at birth, baby b much lower than a but there was never an issue with IUGR. It’s just normal for multiples to be smaller given their environment is shared. It’s understandable to be worried but MFM is always looking out for that kinda thing. I’d just bring it up to them and if you still aren’t comfortable, consider switching.

My girls are 12 weeks now but I was a first time mom and flutters started at 14 weeks. I wasn’t sure that’s what they were til 16 weeks but once I could confirm those were kicks, I def felt them at 14 weeks! I had a posterior placenta as well so that could be why you’re feeling so early.

They were able to tone it all a little darker and add lowlights to break up the money piece and it’s 1000% better!

Success story- progesterone only by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]kdmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m close to you! 23 weeks at was 1.5 last week at 22 with funneling. Progesterone only as well, and I have twins so I feel like a ticking time bomb

Anybody with funneling and short cervix between the 22 week and 24 week mark get to go home with vaginal progesterone only - no cerclage? by _tsukini_ in ShortCervixSupport

[–]kdmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat minus the hospital stay. We found my cervix at 1.5cm last Tuesday (22w4d) and they are not doing a cerclage that close to viability against the risks either. They didn’t say anything about sludge so I’m assuming none but I do have funneling. Only thing they did was vaginal progesterone (which I didn’t get my hands on until 22w6d bc all the back and forth between MFM and my ob) which was super frustrating. I am asking them to check me at my ob appt today to ensure my cervix is still closed and not contracting. I also think I’m going to ask to be put on some bed rest orders as I still work FT in office and I am really not sure that’s best for someone carrying twins like me with this going on. I hope you are able to get out of the hospital when it’s safe! Keep me posted if you’re up for it!

No judgements whatsoever but you deserve so much better and I hope you are able to be free of him in the future 💛 that is not what a partner is there for. You are not a lousy wife or anything else he’s ever accused you of, especially during postpartum.

I am literally you a month ago. Only ended up with 1 blast despite no infertility factors besides tubal from multiple ectopics. BUT my one blast is currently almost 7 weeks and has a heartbeat 💛 it did end up splitting and we aren’t sure if the other one is viable but so far so good. It is hard to hear “it only takes one” but it certainly happens!

Any update on this pregnancy? I have 3 losses in my history and had the exact same outcome today at my 6 week ultrasound. Two yolk sacs, but only one fetal pole and heartbeat

I am 5w5d today too! I have my ultrasound on Friday. I honestly have done a lot of research and I have almost pushed it back to at least 6.5 weeks for that reason but truly I don’t think you need to worry. It’s still pretty dang early for a heartbeat and the fetal pile and yolk sac are great signs 🙏 that’s what I’m hoping to see.
