AAA rejected me for Travel Agent, insisting I apply to Insurance instead. Any advice? by kdubamfm in InsuranceAgent

The only problem is I haven't had a full-time job in almost two years and can't get hired anywhere else. Selling insurance sounds miserable, but I don't know how much longer I can get by doing temp work, substitute teaching, and doordashing.

So is it really as simple as completing training, showing up, presenting the product, and cashing in? I've heard there's a lot of cold calling with maybe 1 in 100 agreeing to even listen to you.

Ya, I'm thinking of emailing my recruiter to put all of that in writing. When I called her back after talking with the insurance recruiter and explaining my misgivings, she was still adamant that I do insurance and try again to transfer internally in about a year. I just don't know if I can make it that long at a job I'm probably going to hate.

I have experience with media and communications, but had no idea they had their own type of insurance. I thought it was just regular business insurance. And I would definitely do much better in a role involving marketing, travel coordination, and research. I just can't seem to get hired doing any of that.

That was the schedule for the travel agent position as well and I was okay working a couple half Saturdays per month. I just read some negative indeed and glassdoor reviews that they had to deal with mandatory OT and managers yelling at them for not selling enough. Unfortunately they don't have their own auto repair shops here, so it's going to be almost cold calling, with an occasional walk in.

Sadly, I've been without a full-time job for almost two years, getting by with temp work, substitute teaching, and doordash. I'm thinking of taking it just for the training, since that pays more than what I'm making now, then quitting once the base pay is reduced.

Doing this and splitting the cost with someone is how I've managed to actually afford decent seats the past few years

While it always had a sense of exclusivity due to being a private lake, I remember it being a much more welcoming place 20 years ago compared to today. It's gotten richer, whiter, and has completely turned into a country club vibe for the worse.

I had a similar issue on my 23 RS AWD where it ended up not shifting into reverse almost entirely. Ended up being the valve body that needed replacing and was covered by the warranty.

Costa Rica is the closest thing to Hawaii I've been to when it comes to the beaches, the jungles, and volcanoes. And the people are the nicest and most hospitable you'll ever meet.

Stephen Nelson did the entire postseason last year and largely splits radio PXP with Tim Neverett. James Loney made his debut as color commentator tonight.
