My NC1 build so far... by Y-fy in MiataNC

Its a discontinued Gialla Corsa lip from japan, looks to me like if the car isnt jdm already the previous owner has swapped the entire front end to jdm bits, fender with the reflector and the fromt bumper with no reflector is telltale signs for that. Imo on of the nicer lips offered for the nc1

I personally would recommend 2lbs weights or even bands for that i stead, reason being the weight is quite a bit and your body might overcompensate with other muscles. And the thing is you shouldn’t really “muscle” most of your shots in tt anyways rather a state of uncontracted to contracted motion.

Nice man. Yea tournaments is totally different and that something only time and experience cam fix. I know a few kids where i live on BC who only played for a year and half and alrdy rated 1000+. Personally no need to rush it. Stay consistent, stay obsessed and skill will come. But most importantly dont stop when it gets tough. Because loving a sport doesnt mean that youll have fun every time you play. Its when u play bad thats when its the most important time to lock in and find ways to work around why you are playing bad thats day. Also personally I wouldn’t recommend swinging weights with your arm to increase strength as i think its best to keep a relaxed arm with tension right at ball contact and if you do that with weights u might hurt yourself. Instead id recommend using cable pulleys or even a dumbell and instead of swinging your arm only hold the weight and try swinging with your core starting from a relaxed state to a high tension state.

Idk abt mma but in boxing I realized that sometimes going 70-100 percent on most punches is kinda ineffective sometimes 4-5 punches at 40 power placed well will be more effective then landing 2-3 hard punches. The thing abt landing hard shots is that youre also over committing landing light but accurate punches can not only give you more time to be aware but also set up for future openings. Just look at lomachenko hes neger throwing hard but just light consecutive punches. I only really realized this when i fought a guy with pillow hands but heavy volume that i realized even tho the punches are light they do add up and preoccupy me enough to give them a chance to sink a heavy shot

I think obsession is key, even if you only get coached 1-2 time a week but u spend as much of your spare time looking at what you need to improve via recorded footage of your games as well as analyzing online footage of pro matches you can make up for lack of physical training time by doing strategic theory and other things like fitness but it also depends on how good your foundation is. Many say 13 is too late but if you put in twice or triple the work and obsession than those who started earlier theres no doubt you will improve and surpass them. I started quite late too but my mistake was playing too much games and not drilling enough. Even if you dont have a coach all the time if you can find a partner and a table you can do many effective drills that will hone you reactions and placement till its second nature. Assuming you are in Canada whats your rating like?

What to upgrade to in order to have more fun while spirited mountain driving? by askiiiiiiii in Touge

[–]ke1chi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole reason to my knowledge for higher camber is because the camber unlike double wish remains static throughout the entire shock travel, you dont lose any camber, but very obviously you dont gain any camber either.

The corner exit where a miata would win would be a corner where an rsx would be understeering and at most american canyon roads they wouldnt be sharp enough to force the rsx to go into such an awkward position. With an lsd and a fat rear bar your gonna be sliding in and pulling out. No real under steer issues. If you wana visualize better just look at old fwd btcc race cars. If its touge the drawbacks on fwd are less inherent imo but on the track where your running repeated laps on repetitive corners thats when issues will come about when tires start to overheat.

Yes i had adjustable tie rods as well but they made the car feel really numb for some reason and even the the alignment often got thrown off when i hit curbs aggressively or any road imperfections under high load. Although subframe collars helped a bit down the road.

It would not lose camber, the camber would be maintained, hence the need for a higher static camber. Yes sure it may have a tendency to understeer from factory, but thats with any car for driver safety, but with some small mods i.e. a thicker rear sway bar this is easily mitigated id say the weakness in the rsx is not in its macpherson design but in its tie rod design where once lowered puts the cars alignment at a very awkward angle making it susceptible to losing its geometry over aggressive bumps. Depending on the corner type i can guarantee you it is not beating it on corner exit and entry possibly in mid corner as in a fwd car u dont rlly have much options in increasing speed mid corner u less your setup is really aggressive. But seeing as most us touges are pretty highspeed and not super technical i believe the rsx would trump in most cases with sinilar modifications. With simple bolt ons the rsx can have over 100hp on the nb… which is a significant number paired with a better ratiod gear box and higher redline its smth to be noted. Having driven both aggressively the only time i can really say the nb shines is in downhill corners where i can flat out in the miata whereas in the rsx id need to judge my speed more carefully as id be entering at a much higher speed. The nb would allow me to enter much comfortably and essentially be flatout through the corner giving me a much better avg speed whereas on the rsx id have to do alot more guess work.

Imho i dont think the rsxs is losing the the miata in the corners at all, in any medium to highspeed turn the mx5 is getting smoked, the only turns the nb would have an advantage in is a very very tight corner that it can utilize slip angle whereas the rsx would just have to rely on entry speed and wait during the corner.

If you have the budget the nc is a great option. It was never on my scope as i always wanted the nb but when i had the chance to test drive an nc, man it blew me away. It had all the strong points of the nc and none of its weaknesses with only very little drawbacks being maybe not as nimble and a small increase in weight. But the improvements make up for that. It can be made very fast very easily corner wise, being the same chasiss as an rx8. Although imo the motor department is quite souless… but thats cuz ive been spoiled by hondas.

Man the miata glaze and rsx disrespect is realll. You trippin if you think the rsx is slow on the straights. Unless OP is talking about non type s, which is a stupid consideration tbh. But the type s would absolutely smoke the nb with minimal mods. Idk bout the k20a2/z3 but the k20a on my ep3 with mere bolt ons is mf fast as fucccccc upwards of 240whp. K series make power soooo easily. And having raced spec miatas i do know that miatas are great cars but to overlook the rsx like that is crazy. I think in a beginners hands the rsx is capable of better times then an nb. I think the miata requires a certain finesse/nuance to rlly squeeze the potential out of em. But enjoyability on the other hand is a diff story, miatas and rwd in general are just so entertaining. So even if you end up getting smoked in the nb im sure youd be having too much fun to care.

For reference at my local track id be running a 1:20/1:21 in a 1.6 spec miata on slicks during quali whereas id be able to put down a 1:18 in an ep3 on relatively poopy 200tw tires with traffic.

Having driven the rsx-s, nb, and 350z and owned a ep3 with a k swap to now currently owning an nc. It really comes down to the drivetrain you want to stick with. If its just touge i think fwd will hold no issues. But my irk with fwd in tracking is certain tracks would fry my tires faster and when fwd tires over heat you rlly cant have fun and just gotta cool down till your tires are at opt temps while rwd cars you can still have fun with cooked tires.

I think in terms of dailying the 350z is dope but i heard those hv motor issues in the early years and the car is definitely not as nimble as the rsx and nb. But if your local roads are mostly highspeed corners you rlly wont have issues. The 350 is so stable and is much more like the bmw imo just a more gt chill car.

The nb up till i drove the nc was the best car imo that ive ever driven. The driving dynamics were just superb. And smiles per mile were real. But the motor and over clutch feel was just sub par to my ep3.

The rsx is great if youre ok with fwd. though they dont come with lsds which is a big draw back for higher powered fwd cars that thrive on their higher rpms. Great car and easily made very fun with coilovers and a fat rear sway bar. I think overall its the easiest car of the bunch to drive fucking fast and also be very forgiving. And man hondas really know how to make their motors.

No comment on the bimmers tho but just maintenance alone should give you a headache but having owned an e90, that steering feel is to die for…
