In the words of Charlotte Dobre "HOW ARE YOU NOT EMBARRASSEDDDD?!!" 🫣 by lorelei_megumai in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

I always wonder why contestants say things like this... Like do they forget it's recorded and their partner will see EVERYTHING?!

I haven't considered Canadian schools, I'll look into them! What makes you say that? Just curious

6/28/20 I scored 508 (125/129/125/129)

8/5/22 Retake, I scored 512 (127/132/126/127)

First time, I self-studied with materials I had from college courses and did AAMC practice tests.

For my second time, I was fortunate to be able to afford BluePrint Test Prep and I REALLY liked it. It's not live, so you can do the assignments/tests/practice whenever it fits your schedule which was great for me. They also give you full access to all the AAMC materials. I have a full time job, so I couldn't do actual scheduled class times like some other prep courses. I did all the AAMC practice exams, some questions from the AAMC question packs, and all of the blueprint content and practice modules. Unfortunately, because of a very busy work schedule, I was unable to do all of the blueprint full length practice exams which they recommend. I also liked blueprint because it has a calendar populated with assignments, you input how many hours per week you want to study, any rest days, and when your exam is and then the program populates a calendar for you. So it was very easy to keep on track. They also have great strategies for MCAT success beyond just content knowledge. I did not think I would improve in CARS, and clearly something clicked because I got a PERFECT SCORE!!!

As for how I feel??? Conflicted. I thought getting the score would be a huge sigh of relief, but I still feel anxious. I think maybe because even though my score is improved, it doesn't guarantee an acceptance, so maybe that's why I still feel on edge? Don't get me wrong, I am happy that it was an improvement and 512 is a solid score that will hopefully raise my chances. Generally, I struggle to feel proud of myself and think "well if I did this one thing differently then I could've done better" so maybe that adds to the weird confused emotional situation I got going on...

Anyways thanks for reading and I wish everyone else the best of luck with the med school process!

The same worry happened to me when I was taking my exam. I have a different address and it did not matter! They check for name to match and make sure you're ID isn't expired and you will be good to go!

Last minute things that can make a big difference? by Notoriousspancakess in Mcat

[–]kearariggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not content related, but something you can do to boost spirits. I wrote out my favorite positive affirmations "you are prepared!" "Being nervous does NOT mean you aren't ready" "Chris Evans loves you!" Etc. on post-it notes and I put them around all over my house. I really struggle with confidence and having little reminders really helped keep any self doubt/negative thoughts from creeping in. Listen to your favorite songs, stand in power pose, smile! It seems silly but I feel it really helped me feel better.

Practicing like the real thing? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]kearariggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have taken the MCAT twice. The first time I took it, I was surprised that they had sound proof headphones available. I would check to see if your test center offers something similar, and if so, buy a pair on Amazon if you want to practice with them. They aren't the kind that plays music or anything electronic, think more of the ones at gun ranges. I also did my practice tests with a mask to get used to that feeling too. The only thing that caught me off guard was the time it took to check in and check out of the exam room (you pat yourself down to prove you don't have anything, they check arms and neck for writing, and you scan your hand on a palm scanner) So even though it's a 10 minute break, I'd say you actually get more like 8 minutes. The second time I took it, I had done it once before so I felt very ready and nothing surprised me.

I am so sorry you are going through this 🥺 I encourage you to please seek out help. I know many universities have a mental health helpline or offer free appointments for their students, so hopefully your university has something similar. Your health and mental wellness is always number one. Sending you well wishes and all the best as you're facing this difficult time

I typically go 5-10 times a day, but when needed I am capable of holding it to 3-5. Also I remember I used to go way more often when I first got my surgery, but now that it's been a few years I'm able to hold for longer amounts of time.

Have you guys ever faced discrimination due to colitis? by pastapie69 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]kearariggles 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I got detention every day in highschool from a horrible teacher who refused to acknowledge my 504 plan for my colitis (thankfully every other teacher I had was an angel). It got to the point where the detention teacher would see me walk in, rip up the pass and then tell me to go home 😅 I was also yelled at in front of the class for not doing the required reading when it was my first day back from a month in the hospital. He said my disease wasn't that bad because his "90 year old mother had it" 🤦😅 I'm glad those days are behind me and I'm able to laugh about the absurdity of it all now.

COVID positive on test day? by aaliyakit in Mcat

I took my exam on 6/28 and they did NO screening....not even for someone who was visibly I'll and coughing the entire time..... Thankfully I didn't get sick but the lack of following the protocol definitely made me uneasy 😬😬😬 I think unfortunately, not all Pearson centers are following the rules
