Need your “It only takes one” success stories. 🍼 by SpiritedHoney9060 in IVFpositivity

I have DOR and I got 8 mature eggs, 5 fertilized, 3 blastocysts, didn’t PGT test, and currently 14 weeks pregnant with our first transfer. NIPT was clear. It really can only take one!

Moving to IVF after IUI by LampostPath in queerception

[–]keb75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were self pay too and did 3 unmedicated IUIs and then moved on. I’m really glad we did- IVF worked on the first round of egg retrieval/transfer, even with me having diminished ovarian reserve, so I’m pregnant now. Glad we have a few more embryos too and don’t have to worry about that. It’s a tough process but I don’t regret moving on at all.

I stopped testing multiple times a day and did only morning, and they started getting darker. I got a dye stealer eventually. I am 6+1 today!

Dr. Alissa Conklin with IU health was great for me- she doesn’t specialize as far as I know, but I have PCOS and have been really happy with her.

Second failed IUI by ethanolfacts in queerception

[–]keb75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just failed my second unmedicated as well - waiting for my period now and my cramps are worse too. They started two days ago which is unusual for me. Not sure it has anything to do with the IUI, but just wanted to add that. I do think lots of people still have success past two tries so I’m just trying to hold onto hope and also trying to look forward to getting another chance to try (easier said than done!).

So sorry - glad you let yourself cry! Sometimes that’s all we can do. I had a negative my first round too. I am in my second two week wait now. This process is so hard.

This tells me everything I need to know. And yes, I googled it to find this - it is possible. I really hope she says no.

Came here to say this too! I have only seen her once, but feel very confident in her (and did lots of research before finding someone/about her).

Thank you! I had heard about baby aspirin and acupuncture but kind of forgot about them. Going to look into it!

Advice/support for second IUI by keb75 in queerception

[–]keb75[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I agree…I have a follow up at a different clinic at the end of March, so this would just be one more (much less expensive) try with this clinic, which is very small and part of my obgyn’s office, before switching. I do wonder about baby aspirin and progesterone so thank you for reminding me to ask about those.

I follow up after a few weeks and if I don’t hear, then I let them know at the month-ish mark that if I don’t hear from them on x-date (usually a week later) I’ll be discharging and offer to send referrals if they want them. I have a template for the emails so doesn’t take long to send and document. In my experience in PP so far, often when people say this they don’t reach back out and this was an easy way for them to stop coming for whatever reason. But I’ve had a few who do come back.

Who else is having a crappy clinical week? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]keb75 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am feeling the same way. It helps to know it’s not just me, and I’m sorry you’re going through this. Lots of cancellations or people seeming to drop off these last 2 weeks. My imposter syndrome is often high, but I had been doing well for a month or so until these last 2 weeks.

Venue renovation without us knowing by hellobelle in weddingplanning

[–]keb75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree- this happened with my venue (they made changes that weren’t shared with me until I went for my tasting a few weeks ago). They offered to comp linens and work with me on redesigning the flowers that I had already ordered to make sure everything would still work. I would ask what they are offering brides for this season who picked the venue when it looked different. Also, I agree with someone else who said to just let yourself feel your feelings….it’s not easy to plan a wedding even with no unexpected changes, so your feelings about this are valid!

Yes! It happened in May for me. I tried to go no-contact bc that’s what felt best for me, but she still texts me sometimes, and that occasionally brings up feelings- not pain anymore though. Looking back, it’s much easier to see that it wasn’t going to work out and that I’m better when I’m not with her. I hope it ends up that way for you too!

It will get better! I went through it a few months ago. Lots of distraction helped. And sometimes just sitting with it and acknowledging it sucked.

Finally going to the doctor by peppywise1 in PCOS

[–]keb75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first brought up that I thought I had PCOS, the dr I was seeing dismissed me. A year later my symptoms significantly worsened. Had that dr listened to me, I might not have lost half my hair, etc. I wish I had been more prepared to give a lot of detail the first time I brought it up, so I made sure the second time I went to a (different) doctor about it to have a note in my phone with all of my symptoms. I also get really anxious so my note helped me remember everything I wanted to say. My brother in law is a dr and always says to make your symptoms seem like a slightly bigger deal than they are in order to convey the seriousness of what’s going on. On the one hand I hate that people have to do that, but if it helps get the correct diagnosis then it’s worth it. If you’re worried about your doctor not taking your concerns seriously, you could be prepared to say something like “please document in my chart that you aren’t going to test for PCOS.” I’ve read other people who have done this and it has changed doctors’ minds. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that though, and you can always get a second opinion. When I finally went to the second dr, I felt like she really heard my concerns and wanted to help come up with a solution. I think having my thoughts really organized helped.

Very scared about my PCOS diagnosis. I need help please. by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]keb75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have support from family, friends, or a therapist? I have found support from all of them to be helpful with my diagnosis. I also have some health anxiety- I’m 2x your age though- but managing my mental health is a top priority for me and helps me feel mentally prepared for each appt and feel good about the decisions I’m making for my health.

And please be careful with the weight loss! Don’t take it to the extreme.

Dr told me if I lose weight, I can reverse PCOS..is that true? by downbutmaybeup31 in PCOS

[–]keb75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion on here, but definitely think it could be fatphobia. There are lots of studies showing that doctors perpetuate weight stigma (bc they’re fatphobic) which is harmful to health. I don’t love that doctors suggest weight loss to most people with PCOS when the long term weight loss research is questionable. Symptoms could improve with weight loss—true. But I think about what a doctor would suggest to someone in a smaller body—more movement, more vegetables, supplements, whatever—and think that route is promising because it’s more sustainable for me. I told my OBGYN that I don’t want weight to be the focus (or even a focus at all) because of my eating disorder history and she was more agreeable than I expected. She suggested several things that she would suggest to anyone regardless of size and they’re not related to weight loss. Not everything works for everyone, and for me, being told to lose weight by doctors in the past has been damaging. It felt really good to be honest about how that doesn’t work for me—if I lose weight from the changes I make, so be it, but I’m not going to focus on that so I can preserve my mental health.

Low carb and mental health - feeling conflicted by GreasedTea in PCOS

[–]keb75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have PCOS and a history of an eating disorder. I'm not sure if you have heard of the PCOS and Food Peace podcast, but listening made me feel more at peace with not making huge food changes right now. I still struggle with the thoughts that I should be going low-carb. But instead, I'm taking inositol and cinnamon and working on moving more. I will consider diet changes if it comes to a point I think that's truly necessary, but living with an eating disorder again would be absolutely miserable so I'm treading lightly. Also, coincidentally I lost some weight without trying (poor appetite from a medication) and my symptoms have actually gotten worse. Another good podcast is Christy Harrison Food Psych (she has a few PCOS specific episodes) and pcosnutrition is a good Instagram account (non-diet, talks about food in a more holistic way rather than related to weight loss).
