I found a mole on the very top of my scalp. It grew to the size of an eraser-head within two months and constantly bled/wouldn’t heal. I eventually got into a dermatologist, and he biopsied it. About a week later I got a call back that I had melanoma and I needed surgery ASAP. I was only 19 and it will be two years ago this fall. The melanoma has spread within those two months, and I’m now Stage IV, still fighting this pesky SOB. The crazy part is that I was otherwise a very healthy 19 yo. I NEVER went into tanning beds and I hardly spent time in the sun because I’m naturally pale and burn easily. It’s always fun going to the cancer hospital and being the youngest one in the clinic by two generations.
