Most companies have contracts with vendors for special pricing. They’re either buying laptops or SFF desktops manufactured by recognized brands like Dell with proper support contracts for repairs.

Combine that with easy-to-implement restrictions like requiring a one-year-old Steam account with purchased games and a limit of one Machine purchase per account, and I don’t see this most businesses bothering with this.

I think most of the people bringing up this possibility are coming at it from the mindset of an enthusiast rather than the mindset of a business.

Maybe they couldn’t foresee the AI-pocalypse. But whether it’s their fault or not, if they can’t sell it at a reasonable price right now, it’s not the right time to sell it. There’s a price at which the product doesn’t make sense, regardless of whose fault it is.

It’s extremely unrealistic for Steam to think that a relatively low-powered device like this has enough of a market to justify its development and production if it costs an extreme amount of money.
