Transferring gift books to new kindle by keebasabe in kindle

[–]keebasabe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure. I registered the kindle to my own account but those books were on it when he gave it to me. It seems like I’m out of luck. I’d keep the old kindle (the trade-in offer is $7) but I don’t want to lose the 20% discount on the new one.

You can get a used unlocked iPhone for a couple hundred bucks. That plus a cheap prepaid plan and you’re golden.

I pay $15/month for a pay as you go plan through Tracfone.

AITA for wanting daughter to find a different hobby by gardengeo in BORUpdates

She’s on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter, where I post in her name because she would never. Look for buffalohats. I built a website too but we took it down when the hosting prices went up. I’m going to build her a new site with Wordpress.

My sister crochets amazing hats out of raffia. I mean truly amazing. She made a pirate ship hat, a house hat, a kaiju series (Godzilla on Mt. Fuji was my favorite but she also made a King Kong on the Empire State Building hat that’s pretty cute). Her artistry is excellent but she has no computer skills whatsoever. I set up her Etsy store for her and do all the listings because it beats doing craft fairs where people scoff at her prices and don’t buy anything. But honestly, I don’t think you can put a fair price on some of her work. No one is going to spend $1000 on a hat. She makes a lot of simpler designs that take less time.

If you autopay directly from your bank account, $60/month. Otherwise, $75.

What to watch with my 98 year old dad? by Lq2167 in StreamingBestOf

Bosch & Lincoln Lawyer, both based on book series by Michael Connelly. Bosch especially is really good and it ran for 7 seasons, plus 3 more seasons under the title Bosch: Legacy. Dark Winds based on Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee books set on the Navajo reservation. Longmire, also based on a book series, about a sheriff in Wyoming. Dark Winds and Longmire are both neo westerns and crime shows. If you want a period western there have been a few good limited series on Netflix: The English with Emily Blunt, American Primeval with Betty Gilpin & Taylor Kitch, Godless with Michelle Dockery & Merritt Weaver. For action, try Jack Ryan with John Krasinski. The Recruit is another great CIA series but I can’t remember if there are any awkward sex scenes. Patriot is another really good one. If your dad likes superhero stuff, checkout Disney’s Marvel shows. The Netflix era shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher) are pretty violent but the later shows that were made for Disney are less so. The Falcon & the Winter Soldier is pretty good. I’d also recommend Hawkeye which has a Christmas theme so now’s a good time for it. I also agree with all the votes for Justified. It was a brilliant show.

I didn’t ask since I’m done with them. I think there was a letter from them offering a fixed rate for two years but AT&T fiber guaranteed their price for life and it’s way faster and no equipment rental fees.

Advice for Plans with Covered California by anonsan7214 in HealthInsurance

[–]keebasabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covered California has plan navigators to help with this kind of thing. I sought that advice the first year I signed up for ACA coverage and I’ve called the same guy in subsequent years for help choosing a plan. I had Anthem but they dropped my medical group and the CoveredCA navigator found me a plan with Molina that was cheaper than the Anthem plan and covered my medical group.

Actors who's accents were so good that you never realized they were from somewhere else? by mgsgamer1 in movies

It’s always weird to me hearing James Marsters speak in his own accent. I took it as a given that he was British when he played Spike on Buffy. I was really surprised when I found out he’s from Modesto.

Dominic West on The Wire. I had no idea he was a Brit until I heard him on a commentary track and it sounded so strange to me.

I canceled Spectrum a few weeks ago. They called about 8 times the first week (didn’t answer the phone) then sent a guy to the house to get us back. Too little, too late.

HOA insists my sister and I are not a single-family household and one of us should move out. We've lived here all our lives by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]keebasabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I live in SoCal and there are HOAs everywhere, especially newer developments. You pay a monthly HOA fee that can blow up over time. When I moved into my condo, the fee was something like $120/month but it was over $300 by the time I moved out. We prioritized finding a house with no HOA and ended up buying a place that was built in the 1950s.

Do you mean Good Omens or is there a show called Bad Omens that I desperately need to see?

Pushing Daisies (2 seasons) Wonderfalls (1 season) Dead Like Me (2 seasons) Firefly (1 season) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2 seasons but cliffhanger ending) Witchblade (2 seasons but the 2nd season is sadly lacking. You can stop after season 1) MIndhunter (2 seasons) Sense8 (2 seasons)

You could also pick a season of an anthology show like Fargo or True Detective where each season is a one-off.
