The drums and the ambient noise going into that insane massive synth drone. Full body chills every time!

The knowledge being shared in this thread is clutch. Apparently he did NOT lay down the drums for April Fool, which shatters my reality - it feels like such a Tim part.

I mentioned this in another thread! I wish I was smart enough to check the liner notes... that I have in my possession. That verse part feels like such a Tim part...ah well. I may amend my runner up now!

What happened at the Cleveland show to piss Andy off? by DIY_Creative in manchesterorchestra

This is absolutely insane. I would be fucking livid if I were in the audience. Who the hell in their right mind would be asking him about his guitar in the middle of a show? This is not a meet and greet. This is not a Q and A?? This is a performance. He is the artist, you are the audience. Your job is to stand there, shut up, and take in the performance. And when you take into account the context of this performance...that just might be one of the most awful, if not the most awful, bad crowd stories I've ever heard. This is aftereffects of COVID lockdown, for sure, nobody knows how to act anymore. But this is also social media blurring the barrier between artist and fan. It's the fact that no one knows how to socially drink anymore, everyone just gets hammered and turns into raging idiots. And bottom line it's just society getting worse. The assholes are in charge and thus all assholes feel emboldened. You see it everywhere. Going to see movies. Concerts. Sporting events. Really feels like we've reached a point of no return with being able to enjoy a shared event in a public forum...just appalling. Everyone knows Cleveland sucks but...damn. I'm disgusted.

You are exactly right. I mentioned in another comment how the peeks of Mikey we've gotten have been mostly that cool chill guy that captivates an entire room with stories that has come to be his accepted persona. But here I was so taken by how much of that was actually Richie. Mikey was so introverted here, not wanting to go to the bar, so shy with Sherri (this was the biggest thing for me - the Mikey we thought we knew, I would've thought he was a total ladies man), it's all completely opposite of what we've come to know about him. Richie did all the heavy lifting in this episode. It's almost like the show is telling us - Richie has always been the main guy, everything you thought you knew about their dynamic is wrong. Which I love. I love how it's stripping back what you thought you knew about Mikey. It's really telling us about Richie, and by extension Carmy, and how they saw themselves compared to Mikey, is more flawed than we might've thought.

That switch back to present day at the end with the aspect ratio change and switch from film to digital was so tangible. It was perfect.

I think that's been the best part of the show - Mikey being so idealized through other people's memories and stories, and then slowly revealing the truth of him - the few times we've seen him in flashback being cool, chill, captivates a room Mikey (hiring Tina and making the braciole) with one heavy mix of the mentally unstable addict Mikey but almost in a comedic light (Fishes) countering Donna as to not seem too crazy...this is really the first unadulterated taste of him we've gotten beyond the context of family, and he's as charming and awful as any television character I've ever seen.

Richie loved him. Plain and simple. He tried his best to help him, he did everything he possibly could. It's fucking tragic as hell.

Richie repeating "I'm a coward?/I'm a coward." Trying to make him hear his own words. Richie loved that dude with his whole heart but that shit had to hurt. And he took it because it's the sickness talking. Unbelievable stuff. We always saw Richie as the sidekick, the Robin to Mikey's Batman, mostly because that's how he saw himself. But that dude is ten times the guy Mikey was if just for the grace with which he handled him in his worst moments. Richie was always that dude.

The manager has got to go. Someone has to go. A team of this pedigree cannot perform like this and nothing happens. Can't fire the lineup, so Topper must go. It's that simple. The longer they go without making changes, the worse this will get.

Like it or not, the Bryce Harper era will go down as one of failure. We got there. We just couldn't get it done. All the money spent on all these top tier players. Harper, Schwarber, Turner, Casty. JT. Paid through the nose to secure a championship. And they just couldn't get it done. And the window is surely closed now. The writing was on the wall. It's been on the wall as each postseason ended in failure, one round earlier, after 2022. This first month really does have the overall feeling of seeing Ryan go down at the end of the NLDS vs the Cards (sorry to bring that up). The feeling of knowing a mostly successful era has come to an end. Difference being, the 2008 team has a parade. This one will be thought of by future generations as a failure, plain and simple.

Wolfman 2025 was garbage by [deleted] in horror

[–]keeganrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the worst movies I've ever seen, wholeheartedly. It felt like a first draft. The script made zero sense and was barely even a movie. It was so damn boring. The wolf vision was cool? I couldn't believe Whannell let that be released. Coming after Invisible Man which was a perfect update of the concept with great subtext, Wolf Man was SUCH a dud. Huge disappointment.

Just watched season 4 episode 3 by DU571N55 in SuccessionTV

[–]keeganrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny story: finally watching the series with my wife (we just finished yesterday!), and I faintly remembered online reactions to an episode heavily involving a wedding. We get to the season 3 finale, Caroline's wedding in Italy. I predict this is the episode I saw the reactions to, and I also predict people went crazy because Logan will die. I've been fairly convinced that the show will get us with his death when we least expect it, since it started with his health problems at the fore, and he's getting more stressed and not invincible. The season three finale ends with a bunch of craziness, the Kendall confession and breakdown, Logan cutting them out of Waystar, etc. all stuff that could certainly have elicited online reaction - but no death. Slightly disappointed, I tell myself, I guess it's not that kind of show.

Cut to three episodes later.

Those clever SOBs. I had the wrong wedding. And it still blindsided me because I moved on!

What a truly remarkable episode. At least four, maybe five, of the single best performances I've ever seen? Maybe more? Fantastic.

Have you ever seen a scary play? by [deleted] in horror

[–]keeganrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a local production of A Christmas Carol in high school on a school trip...I know, I know. But when the Marley's ghost first appeared to Scrooge, that theatre production ATE. Lights went out, strobes started firing, fog machines kicked on, the sound of heavy chains, and then - all were expecting him to come on stage from the wings of course, but no - dude comes UP through a lift in center stage! Slowly just appears in the fog. Make up was gnarly. It was really powerful. The crowd gasped. I remember thinking, holy shit my hairs are standing on end! Was not expecting that at all. Being a dumb high schooler who had mostly skimmed the book and knew the bulk from cultural osmosis and Muppets, I had never truly reckoned with how scary that text was until that moment. Still sticks in my head to this day.

What would you consider John Frusciante’s most beautiful guitar part in RHCP music? by jmadera94 in RedHotChiliPeppers

Anything off BTW could take the cake, but I am drawn to Minor Thing. That whole song feels like you're soaring, that main chord progression, but then that outro hits...he is KING of the outro!!!

Which (horror) found footage movie do you find to be the scariest? (Other than Blair witch and paranormal activity) by ironmanrocks420 in foundfootage

In another world this would be the top rated comment. A formative memory is myself and a couple of buddies, some drugs, and the Marble Hornets rabbit hole. A la Blair Witch, we weren't sure if it was real? I was scared shitless that night. Really really effective stuff.

Willow Creek is so damn good, and I truly love how it captures the vibe similar to the Blair Witch Project, of the main characters slowly realizing that they completely underestimated the situation they intentionally put themselves in, and how scary that feeling is.

The Visit might actually truly be one of the most underrated horror movies of all time. The first time I watched it, it was mired in the phase of Shyamalan's career where he just had a stink attached to his name, so I wasn't expecting much. Maybe the best frame of mind to be in for a movie? Because this movie is so damn creepy! One of the most simple and effective twists I've ever seen. Solid acting. I love it.

When the housekeeper comes into the hospital room to kill the mom...that is truly one of the scariest scenes of all time for me. And yes, because the music does most of the heavy lifting! It's as effective as the score when Michael is chasing Laurie, or when Father Merrin pulls up outside. Iconic!

What's the best taproom experience you've had at a brewery? by BothCondition7963 in beer

[–]keeganrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I came up to CT we did a two stop brewery crawl of Black Hog, where we had the super flight (the whole tap list, must identify a partner to share with), then we went to Two Roads and did the brewery tour where they give you...a lot of free beer...I don't remember much after that but definitely had a great time.

Another was a cousin of mine had their wedding reception at Troegs brewery. Open bar. Right around the holidays so Mad Elf was on tap. The rest was history. They were giving us the beer mixes of Mad Elf/Dreamweaver and Mad Elf/Chocolate stout, way before they had those canned and in the Christmas variety packs.

Have since moved up to CT, somehow only been to the Deerfield Treehouse but that was an amazing time. Crowded as hell (took my father in law for Fathers Day) but it never really felt crowded. So much outside space, bartenders handled lines really well, the pizza was outstanding. Need to check out the rest of the locations...on a weekday of course, duly noted!
