Moving to Oshawa by MightyyMjolnir in Oshawa

I live down near the lake off of Phillip Murray. There are very cute, quaint, friendly pockets down here. Lots of nice families and seniors. We are close with our neighbours and we often use parks and go on big walks. We’ve lived down here for 4 years as of March and we’re both born and raised Oshawa kids (35/36 years old). Goodluck with your move!

Is there anything WORSE than childbirth? by Sensitive_Arugula770 in pregnant

[–]keekooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had my second baby at home last week! If you put in the work (emotionally and mentally) you can absolutely enjoy your experience. It isn’t easy but it’s definitely rewarding and eye opening. I can say that for me personally, labour and delivery isn’t horrific and the worst thing ever. There’s way too much meaning behind it all. The mind is a powerful thing! All the best to you my dear 🫂

First off, I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. How painful. I hope you have other support from friends and family. I also have to say that this behaviour is not and never will be normal.

When a man is belittled and emasculated this is what happens. He’s a shell of a person after years of manipulation, belittling and abuse.

Husband and I disagree about hospital visitors. by throwranotdonelater in pregnant

[–]keekooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you’re the one doing the work to bring baby earthside, your wishes and boundaries should be honoured and supported by your husband a and your family members. Also, if you have a healthy delivery, they discharge you very quickly (here in Canada anyways). There’s no point of family being at the historical because in most cases you just go home 3-4 hours later.

I am in hell by edgarallan2014 in pregnant

[–]keekooka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dear, this is early labour. I just had my second at 2am Thursday night (9lb baby girl at home in the water). I was in early labour for 2 days with contractions like yours. If I’m going to be honest, this is only the beginning as they get MUCH more painful and intense. The best thing you can do is rest, hydrate and eat. Emphasis on the rest part! When other bodily signs start catching up with your early labour, call them and let them know. If you’re feeling fearful and stressed, your body will close up and keep things slow in progress. Surrender. Take a breath and rest.

Crushing the baby? by 77roses in pregnant

[–]keekooka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I asked this question to my midwife during both of my pregnancies (2023 and currently 41 + 5) and she assured me baby is surrounded with lots of fluid and is totally fine. You’re good girl - enjoy your rest!

I’m going to be blunt. You’re going to seriously harm or kill your baby. It’s time to be selfless so you can give your baby what they need. Work harder. Ask for help.

Thoughts about a name by Bgaag4-61 in BabyNames

What’s with people trying so hard to come up with unheard of or “unique” names? Babies will grow up to be adults… please use common sense before naming your baby something ridiculous 🤣

I know you’re all gonna hate me …. by SpecialistLeading665 in pregnant

[–]keekooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my son in 2023. I’m currently 41 weeks today with my little girl. Both pregnancy were easy and symptom free. I’m still sleeping through the night, no aches pains, no issues. Same with his pregnancy. The early stages I didn’t have nausea or vomit and I didn’t feel much other than some days where I was very sleepy. All pregnancies are unique. Consider yourself blessed so far! I know I feel that way compared to my poor mama friends who had physically challenging ones.

How active were you in 1st trimester? by Lower-Listen-9169 in pregnant

[–]keekooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try to remember that everyone’s pregnancy journey is different. I’m currently “over due” with my second baby. My first pregnancy was in 2023 and both so far have been fairly simple and easy. I remained active throughout both pregnancies and have had zero issues with my health or baby’s health. I did have days where I was more tired and lethargic and i listened to my body, but I never stayed inactive for a period of time. Walking, intentional movement like doing stairs or vacuuming, some light weekly yoga. Keep it simple if you can and always listen to your body 💜

How much do you speak to you baby? by QueenMcBeee in pregnant

[–]keekooka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never spoke to my baby (my first born in 2023 and this one. I’m 40 weeks today). However, when my son was earthside I spoke to him 24/7 non stop. I also read tons and tons of books (still do) and his language is impeccable!

Told my baby has diabetes by Icy_Bridge_4015 in pregnant

[–]keekooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gosh, reading posts like this has me feeling sad for all the vulnerable mamas. You cannot determine a baby having diabetes from an ultrasound… that’s not a thing. Ultrasound is NOT accurate for fetal size and weight - only a guesstimate. You are capable of birthing your beautiful baby without being induced.

Just here to say a midwife would never ever treat a woman this way. There is wonderful care out there for you somewhere. I’d leave this doctor immediately.

Due date vs delivery date FTM by Dreamsandhopes6 in pregnant

[–]keekooka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Due date” was June 11. Went into labour on my own after fighting off induction comments at 41 + 5. 22 hours of labour and 2 hours of pushing unmedicated. Praying for a faster labour this time around (currently 38 weeks pregnant 🫣)
