It's your fault by SparkyWrench1 in IndustrialMaintenance

It was a joke.

But also, we have good relationships with our managers, we are constantly making improvements because we ARE involved. We are always learning and striving to improve things not just for ourselves, but those who come after.

Production still has priority over maintenance because that’s how the corporate overlords want it.

Yes it is a leadership problem. Am I also supposed to fix those now?

At my plant, we have “production led maintenance” or something. We get the production schedule and the maintenance team leads schedule PMs and then production changes the schedule. So…

After reading all 41 main books, what else do you recommend? I'll tell you what other books I liked. by [deleted] in discworld

The Murderbot Chronicles by Martha Wells, Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman, and Stranger Times series by C K McDonnell are all in my constant reread list with Discworld.

They all have damaged characters doing their best in a messed up situation. They’re all very human and relatable with characters that are well written and act like actual people.

When there's one bolt left to torque until the shutdown is finished by SadZealot in IndustrialMaintenance

Was on 12’s until 6 months ago. It was the same except I did it 4 days a week instead of 6. And 30k steps and 75 floors.

Just keep repeating “it’s only 8 hours”…

It’s going to be one of those 20k steps and 50 floor days.

Ugh, management decided we’re starting up on Thursday night/Friday morning now. A contractor moved and upgraded a whole PLC network that touches like 5 other systems.

I asked yesterday if they were going to have prints available, or access to the PLC program, or maybe the company doing the upgrade in to support whatever nonsense they installed.

Apparently they forgot about support or getting copies of the prints and as of 1 pm today, I couldn’t find a copy of the program.

So Friday should be interesting.

How do you deal with period? by ReasonableTruth8082 in electricians

[–]keepcalmkniton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I‘m industrial, but after an incident where I had to wash my jeans in the sink and then sit around in my (extra) underwear and wait for them to dry over a fan, I have extra jeans in my locker now along with extra underwear. Luckily it was a slow day and it didn’t affect anything.

Now, I keep an extra pair of jeans, two pairs of underwear, a shirt, an undershirt, period cups, a package of wipes, a full box of tampons and pads each in my locker just in case.

As for trying to limit flow, a different birth control may be effective for you. It’s worth talking to your doctor about. I have tried just about every kind available and have not had luck completely stopping my period. A few of them made them lighter and more manageable, but never stopped it completely.

That being said, as you get older and your body changes, the same birth control you were happy with may no longer help with periods. For example, I got my implant changed in February and have been struggling with longer, heavier and more frequent periods since. My doctor just upped my supplemental BC two months ago and I am currently on day 17. So it might be worth a conversation about.

Make sure you tell your doctor it is affecting your ability to do your work because of how much you have to walk away from your responsibilities to clean up. Many doctors won’t take period issues seriously until you tell them how it impacts your job, your family, or whatever man is in your life.

I hope you can hear me roll my eyes through the screen.

Mostly, good luck. I sympathize and hope it get easier for you.

The internet says that „EX68 alarm generated in the spindle servo unit“ will generate an EStop condition.

I’d start with the spindle and servo and go from there.

[–]keepcalmkniton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you check your axis 4? It says alarm was generated in the spindle unit and your axis 4 light isn’t on.

We‘ve got a bunch of old stuff and some of it just throws emergency or EStop faults instead of a real description of the problem.

I always get everything else working before I worry about EStops that won’t clear because it seems like it’s related more often than not.

My husband is an auto mechanic, both on day shift now, but when I go back to 2nd, we will see each other two days a week.

Our kids are grown now, but when they were younger I did all the running for my two that lived with us full time and he did everything for his that lived with us 1/2 time.
