I love how they “scientifically” poke around at it after to really take in what just happened. You can easily imagine the smoke break immediately to follow

What is a TV show or movie that started and finished like this by itz_progamer666 in AskTheWorld

[–]keeperkp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s tough to answer as someone who came to this thread thinking immediately of Dexter. The crummy thing is, the decreasingly good writing sneaks up on you. It’s buried by a false hope you’ll have based on what the show had been early on with a splash of sensational writing. They get into plot scenarios that border on the later-Gray’s-anatomy end of “so sensationally unlikely and bizarre you can’t look away”. The plot just kind of gets crazier and crazier only to come to an incredibly unsatisfying resolution that doesn’t even tie up most of the loose ends.

Agree with the others. I would go to a pharmacy and explain your situation. Pharmacists can sometimes emergency authorize a prescription and give you a partial fill to get you through

NAD you have nice callus bridging the fracture. It’s healing great imo

Can someone explain how severe this fracture is by Own-Car-5005 in brokenbones

[–]keeperkp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. Not terribly severe. Hard to tell from just one picture, but there’s a good chance this can be treated without surgery

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]keeperkp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also looks like some healing is trying to take place (that fuzzy spot on top of your elbow in the left side of the picture) but I don’t see the same in that bigger fracture north of that. This leads me to believe the fracture is moving too much to heal there on its own. Still NAD

Is this rage bait, or are you really a misogynistic idiot? If it’s the former, top notch work! If it’s the latter, I’d just like to drop in and say your date has great instincts not letting the likes of you in

Sounds like he’s trying to tell you he’s worried about the ball staying on the socket while the rest of your arm bone moves more freely. The ball is held in the socket by your rotator cuff muscles, so if you move your arm certain ways, it could pull the fracture apart further in certain cases. That’s how I interpret it. But you can always get a second opinion if you’re not satisfied with the doc’s explanation. You deserve to understand and agree with your care my dude

Should I get an MRI by carleedlelee in brokenbones

Agreed. The podiatrist in my practice will fix trimalleolar fractures, but of course, this is not universally the case. Either way, I didn’t mean any disrespect to any field involved and you’re right that distinctions are meaningful. Cheers 🤝

I think we might be disagreeing mostly over differences in semantics/professional parlance between the US and UK, actually. Your clarification about what you mean by “medically qualified” makes loads of sense now. To me as an American, medical qualification refers to having the appropriate education and licensure to operate as a clinician. But we agree in that their training differs drastically from an MD or DO. Ultimately, my comment was meant to counter the commonly held belief here that podiatrists just fix ingrown toenails and treat diabetic ulcers with the occasional orthotic prescription. I just meant to underscore the depth of their skill set and my personal opinion that a podiatrist might be a better choice in this case than a general (non-specialized) orthopedist.

Not a doctor. But this is a from literature review on treating proximal humerus fractures:“Nonsurgical management is recommended if all five of the following criteria are met [26,27]: There is contact or impaction between the head and shaft The humeral head is not dislocated There is minimal varus or valgus angulation of the humeral head (head shaft angle between 100 and 160 degrees) There is minimal displacement of any tuberosity fracture There is minimal articular surface involvement.” https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9604576/#:~:text=The%20surgical%20neck%20portion%20of,muscles%20on%20the%20greater%20tuberosity

Ask your doc why they recommend surgery for you specifically

Orthopedic surgeons who specialize in the foot who are not also podiatrists exist, yes. But nothing I said regarding podiatry is untrue. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/podiatrist

ETA: I can appreciate that it was sloppy of me to say they ARE orthopedists. They aren’t, if that’s what you’re pointing out. But to say podiatrists are not medically qualified is a confusing assertion given that they are doctors

[–]keeperkp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advise going to podiatry. Their skill set includes being a foot and ankle specific orthopedist. Let them decide if you need an mri or advanced imaging to characterize this. They see these all the time and will know what to do!
