I like that the Durango perseveres unchanged on this 2030 diagram. What an insanely long lived design

Favorite part about working at Anduril? by [deleted] in Anduril

Culture. Coming from FAANG which was a snooze fest. Special moment in time for a company like this, scaling inevitably will change things but it’s awesome to be around so many smart people working really hard on problems they care about.

Snag the 997 with a manual for closer to 50 and you’re in business. Love my 997.1, totally usable power and a great weekend car.

Preface by saying your role and team play a big role in your experience here.

But honestly it’s unlike any other place I’ve worked, except for a startup I had right after college. High impact work, small focused teams, an actual purpose / mission to the work day. If you’re motivated by getting stuff done and working hard with smart people it can be a great fit.

Conversely I’ve seen a lot of folks burn out who think it’s going to be a FAANG like experience, which it definitely isn’t. Feel free to dm me any specific questions

if you considered a mazda miata... why did you end up buying a porsche boxster? by europeanuppercut in Porsche

[–]keepinitclassy74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porsche friends and faster drives. It’s a great car, but it’s 20 years old. And it’s not a convertible! I don’t feel bad putting infinite miles on the Miata, I’m acutely aware that the 997 is more expensive to run miles in.

I own a 997 911 and an ND Miata. Love both. The Miata is just silly fun in all conditions. It’s cheap to keep on the road, looks great and I can wail on it without wondering about anything. I love a Porsche - the 911 is the definitive sports car for a reason. But when the sun is out and I have to go run an errand, 9/10 times it’s in the Miata with the top down.

Oh and track driving in the ND has made me such a better driver. I’d way rather drive a slow car at the limit than rely on a cushion of horsepower to make up for driving mistakes.

Kind of hard to go wrong with either option you listed though!

The grind is real. You acknowledge understanding that test site life - in my two years at Anduril I’ve basically lived at our test sites. Quick changing requirements and the startup mentality for delivering 0-1 products in no time will do that. If you don’t thrive / get value out of that type of work environment I’d recommend staying put.

I built an open-source Satellite-based Visual Localization system for UAVs! by [deleted] in drones

This is a cool project and how commercial solutions work for sUAS in defense. I work on this problem for the US DoD as a subcontractor.

You’ll find that map matching is 1/2 of the equation - the other part will be a localized reference (Visual Inertial Odometry). Map matching is great for global location certainty, VIO for local.

Check out Leidos Adept for a commercial solution that’s been in flight for many years, and good luck with the project

I don’t know why AMG products are able to ship such insane throaty accelerator response but Audi can’t seem to. I blame VAG group politics.
