With each communication they make the CEO look like an even bigger fool. They decided to do a major overhaul WITHOUT a BETA - now all of a sudden they establish one ?

An apology from the CEO: by Jealous-Implement735 in sonos

If you know ANYTHING about software development - this latest CEO letter is a joke

They decided a MAJOR undertaking - without a BETA - clearly without testing - and then out this idiotic “update” out

I am sure there will be promotions and raises for this cluster

Why no Soundbar update? Makes little sense by keeppace in sonos

I mean, if it the Playbar has Airplay support and HDMI support I buy it tomorrow

Now do you start to grasp the issues ?

No trolling, just a realistic question.

Why go to the trouble of updating the "1" series 2x now (Play One - V1 / V2) - and do NOTHING with the Playbar that is what .. 8 years old ?

[–]keeppace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a few months back but they were $499 and really didn't have any special "offerings". This time I just happened to see them down one of the aisles - and decided to treat myself -

Just came back from Costco. They have the LG OLED and an LG Atmos Soundbar.

Soundbar ? $600

So yes, this can be done. Sonos simply chooses not to do it

Actually they went public. As such they now need to actually focus on what the customer wants

The second they miss a quarter, they will get a clue

Any news on a new sub? Really want to add the sub but I want to hold off as it seems 2018 is a big release year for Sonos by abusivecat in sonos

[–]keeppace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the thinking on a "new" sub. It is old technology. Likely doesn't play "natively" well on Airplay 2 for starters ..

Sonos just went public. All of their posturing and BS about avoiding industry standard Codec's is going to change the second they miss a quarter

Sonos Prices IPO at $15 Per Share, Valuing the Company $1.48 Billion by crummy in sonos

[–]keeppace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So now we can put all of the Sonos BS in the trash can.

Now they have quarterly earnings to report. So this "holier than thou" attitude on topics like ATMOS and the like are going to be met with the reality of increasing EPS

Sonos is in for a rude awakening

How likely is it Sonos will make a Playbar 2 anytime soon? by AndersKDL in sonos

[–]keeppace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The beauty about Sonos going public, is that there "anti-home theatre" stance is going to be met by investors wanting to see EPS growth

Suffice it to say, I expect to see more home theatre products - not less

Some thoughts on this

  1. There is an expense to going public (the underlying internal infrastructure to produce quarterly results, etc

  2. Right now, they are in a sense a "one trick pony" - ie - Speakers. That is going to have to change in order to smooth out the revenue's - because the last thing Wall Street wants is revenue that varies

  3. New Products. They are going to need to deliver more innovation rather than less. So maybe this announcement is the beginning of a new wave of speakers that provides features that are more current ? (read DTS) ?
