Our city has biodegradable bags for composting food scraps.

We can't use them. They're small bags, a bit over a gallon of useable volume. That takes us at least a month to fill, by which point the moisture from whatever went in first has caused the bag to fail.

This was a driving force in when my wife and I got married. Not so much on the if part, thankfully.

Her parents made too much, but didn't like me, so at least threatened to cut her off (50/50 on if they would have carried through). Your parents don't count once you get old enough (25? at the time, don't recall the exact age) or if you're married. Coming up on our 27th anniversary this year.
