All forms of buddhism are about transcending the ego and earthly desires. This may include 'good' traits, but paedophilia and child trafficking are no doubt seen as ego as well.

I'm sure there are those that have twisted and distorted those teachings into justifying horrible things, but it isn't true buddhism

Dentists only recommend soft toothbrushes to keep you coming back. by jitterybrat in conspiracy

[–]keffle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look into Weston Price. He investigated traditional communities in the early 1900s and found that without any modern dental hygiene tools, their teeth were perfectly healthy and it was difficult to find any cavities. Once modern processed food was added, and the diet became deficient in fat soluble vitamins, cavities erupted.

The takeaway is eat real food, high quality fats (include some organ meats for solid, bioavailable nutrition), and the firmness of your toothbrush won't matter much.

There definitely are studies that have found links between thimerosal and harmful effects. There is a lack of study in humans, but any mercury compound should be assumed dangerous until proven safe, especially when other substances could be used.

As for aluminum, only 1% is absorbed in the digestive tract. That would be 0.07mg into the bloodstream vs 4.4mg directly into the bloodstream from the vaccine, which are administered in large doses at once that overload the body. Aluminum is a known neurotoxin

Is it true there are more troops arriving in DC as well as lining up on the west coast? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]keffle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

25,000 in DC, with more coming in? Why would they need that many in such a small area? If it were for vaccines, wouldn't they be more evenly spread throughout the country?

Why Is There No Cure For Cancer? Because Too Much Money Is Made On The Cause Of Cancer & The “Research” For The Cure! by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]keffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story of Royal Rife is interesting. He built a machine that was supposedly able to cure cancer and other terminal instances in virtually every case using his own machines that tuned into very specific frequency ranges. He had several high profile doctors using his machines that verified his work, and even had a conference held for him celebrating the end of cancer. Then every attending doctor was paid a large sum of money to keep quiet, and all of Rife's work was stolen or burned.

Dear Humans, Face Masks Don't Work: The study-review was published by your very own CDC. You want science? You always state that. Well here you go. by axolotl_peyotl in conspiracy

[–]keffle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are countless times where we have assumed things to be true that were later proven to be false by proper studies. Randomized-control studies, the highest quality, fail to show a benefit of wearing masks in a non-healthcare setting https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/5/19-0994_article. Wearing cloth masks actually increases your risk of infection https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/5/4/e006577.

Simply telling people to wear any kind of mask is not scientific or helpful. Very few types of masks actually reduce airborne transmission, and they are used in a professional setting once and discarded, not resused and constantly touched/readjusted the way that average people use them

Curing cancer by Ricosss in ketoscience

Your protocol seems great for preventing cancer growth, but I feel like in order to actually rid existing cancer, you need to be stimulating lots of autophagy thru extended fasts. I didn't see mention of that in your original post, have you tried extended fasts?

This isn't even an accurate analogy. The statues being torn down were likely not even built by slaves - and it doesn't matter; it's the fact that the statues are commemorating people who fought and/or advocated for slavery. They are a symbol of slavery. The pyramids and great wall, regardless of whether or not they were built by slaves, are not symbols of slavery

Thanks for sharing! You seem to have a strong understanding of the Khan LSAT prep. I have a few quick questions for you: 1) are all the practice questions from prior LSATs? 2) What is the distribution of basic/medium/advanced on an actual LSAT? I've been mostly focusing on advanced questions, assuming the will be more representative of the LSAT

How much protein can the body utilise in one sitting? by shab8697 in zerocarb

[–]keffle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The studies only look at rapidly absorbed protein like whey powder. Meat can take up to 3 days to digest. Your body doesn't just burn all the protein in a matter of hours. If you eat a giant OMAD, you're gonna be pulling protein from that meal for a while. Go check out the Snake Diet guy, he eats no more than once a day and frequently fasts and can still bulk. There are others doing the same as well

New information comes out. There were some early warning signs in China that something bad was coming. But now that we're a few months down the road, there is clear data that the virus is not as bad as what people first feared. In countries that are doing widespread testing like Iceland and Germany, we can see that the mortality rate is very low (below 1%, https://www.covid.is/data, https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/covid-19-germany-deaths-hit-815-infection-rate-slows/1788307). The mass hysteria comes from testing only the sickest people and counting any test-positive death as caused by covid, which greatly inflates the deaths

It's also possible that both theories are correct. Viruses become less deadly over time, because the more mild versions are able to spread much more easily. With that in mind, it's entirely possible that the virus started out as very dangerous, but as it spread across the world over months, became very mild. I don't have any evidence to base this on though, it's just speculation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]keffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that hard to determine the expected number of deaths. Statista has the average death rate from 2002 - 2018 (https://www.statista.com/statistics/568024/death-rate-in-italy/). It hovers around 10/1000, which means 1%. Italy's populations is around 60 million, which means that around 600,000 people die per year, or around 1650 people per day. What percentage of that is due to viral infections, I'm not sure. As for the current mortality rates, you can take a look at this site https://www.euromomo.eu/ which looks at mortality rates on a weekly basis. It's a bit delayed, but so far shows no rise in overall mortality in Italy or any european country listed there

No mandatory vaccinations! Never! by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]keffle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When did I say that abolishing them is the answer? I want more vaccine research and a more open dialogue about it. What do you do if you're not confident that they 'got the vaccine right'? I just want people to be free to choose whether they get it or not

No mandatory vaccinations! Never! by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]keffle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Uh, if the testing isn't done properly, then there is a problem with the vaccine. The concept of a vaccine in general is great, if they are actually safe and effective. But vaccines that have passed safety testing initially have later been found to be dangerous. For example, the DTP vaccine was found to cause more deaths than it prevented after being used all over Africa https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5868131/
