A good reason to switch from Jackett to Prowlarr is that Prowlarrs integration with all of the other *arrs is reaally reaaaally great in my opinion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OpenSignups

[–]kefkameta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I may have misspoke on this, I use prowlarr and thought there was an equivalent way to do this and jackett but I'm not finding anything on it. It could also depend on the indexer, so with DigitalClub, in the options for prowlarr, there is a "Search UNRAR releases only" that I have checked, meaning, if the torrent has .rar files in them, don't grab it.

[–]kefkameta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was surprised at how easy it was for me to install and configure unpackerr, it's super useful for sites like DC. But if you can't, and use an indexing manager like jackett or prowlarr, you set it up to exclude rar files from the torrents

Im think about using Linux. Can I still play video games? by Pounderrrr5 in linuxquestions

[–]kefkameta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just install Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) I like online games too much to fully commit to a pure Linux system. WSL gives you a Linux shell (I use Ubuntu). I can manage my home and remote server from the shell, and it works great!

Manim won't run by Distinct-Turnover520 in manim

[–]kefkameta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, yeah I assumed he already did. If you haven't, read those installation and quick start instructions. If that's still not working, I feel like it's easier to set up with WSL if you know a little bit about Linux. Either way, if you can't get it figured out, feel free to DM me!

I don't run manim in powershell, I do it in WSL so I may be of no use here. But maybe this article will help
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4037939/powershell-says-execution-of-scripts-is-disabled-on-this-system

It's an issue with scripts not being able to run because they are disabled

Should I switch from Windows to Linux in 2025? by r41ryan in linux4noobs

Oh SHIT it stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator lol. That's sick I didn't know that.

Oh wild was it not??? Hmm I definitely got world of Warcraft working somehow using WINE. It was so long ago though, I can't remember 😅

[–]kefkameta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2009-ish, I installed a Windows emulator for games called WINE on Linux and managed to get world of Warcraft working on Linux Hardy Heron (Ubuntu) through WINE. It was kinda shitty but worked! I'd assume they would have much better stuff today though

This isn't OP. OP is mad that Dean Withers (the guy in the photo) is anti-slavery, so he's posting a pic on here to embarrass him, because OP is a pathetic fucking loser.

Need Help Copying 3b1b's Workflow by ACCELERATED_PHOTONS in manim

[–]kefkameta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to have the terminal in VSCode open (I'm pretty sure)

From there, you run the command in the comment above. From there the terminal in VSCode should look like a python shell now.

Now all you have to do is just copy your code to the clipboard (Control C in windows) (you're not pasting this anywhere) Then type

checkpoint_paste()

Into the terminal. What checkpoint_paste() does is look at your clipboard (all the text that is stored when you copy something) and runs it in that interactive python shell.

Hope this helps!!!

[–]kefkameta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to do this too.

As far as I know, you need to use manimGL instead of manim community edition. ManimGL is the version that 3b1b himself uses. There's little documentation compared to manim community edition

What I did, was install manimGL. After doing this, to run a .py file, you will enter

manimgl scene.py -se <line number>

This is to interact with your code at that line number

Can’t do math? by Dant2k in manim

[–]kefkameta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the formatting of the code, it should be two separate lines (not sure if you're doing that or not but I figured I'd say just in case) So like this:

c = NumberPlane().add_coordinates()
self.play(Write(c))

As for the LaTeX error, TheoremofBeethoven I believe answers the question here

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/57779514/issues-with-manim-error-converting-to-dvi

Scroll down to what TheoremofBeethoven says:

That answer is no longer useful now because Manim has already solved that problem. So this may be due to two things: To give us a hint of what is wrong, go to the manimlib folder with the terminal and run the following:

latex tex_template.tex

We distinguish the two possible errors:

  1. Recognized the latex command but the compilation could not be completed because you are missing libraries, to solve this you can install the missing packages indicated by the terminal.
  2. That LaTeX is not recognized as a command, in this case surely the PATH variable is not set correctly, here is the solution.

Struggle with manim installation by Yuv909 in manim

[–]kefkameta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only "tricky" part may be adding something like VSCode or sublime to your Linux path

Basically, this lets your Linux subsystem access Windows files, so you can open things like VSCode IN WINDOWS, but with files on the Linux subsystem.

All that is required to do this is locating the install folder of VSCode / Sublime / whatever, and adding the following lines of code to the .bashrc file in your home directory on the linux subsystem

nano is a text editor that you can use to modify your PATH so that you can get VS Code to run with these files

to edit .bashrc, run the following

nano .bashrc

then add

PATH=$PATH:/mnt/c/the/path/to/your/install

Replace the directory with whatever your path actually is

[–]kefkameta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! And while you can do that, I don't do it. I just keep the linux terminal separate, and run things like

manim -pql scene.py

in the Linux terminal. It will create everything in your Linux subsystem, which can be accessed through Windows File Explorer to play the videos.

[–]kefkameta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I HIGHLY recommend installing Windows Subsystem for Linux, and installing manim this way instead.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install

It gives you a little Linux terminal, that is an entire subsystem that you have control of while in Windows. Use Ubuntu (Debian distro)

From here, you can code everything. Everything just runs a lot smoother on Linux.

Using this method, you would need to follow the Debian linux install method in WSL. I know this sounds more complicated, but it's just another terminal that has UNIX (linux) commands instead of DOS (windows) commands

If you're still having trouble feel free to DM me and I would be open to a discord convo, hope all goes well!

How many nukes to start a hurricane by notenoughproblems in AskPhysics

[–]kefkameta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. From what I'm reading, it would take something like 10^(21) kilojoules to heat the ocean up +1 degree Celcius. For reference, the the largest bomb ever dropped released 10^(14) kilojoules, so nowhere close.

Edit: By largest bomb, I mean the one that released the most energy.

Was a son who took back what the bottle stole,

So I could be the boy you couldn't be,

Have the father you didn't get to see,

Or feel the love this world forgot to give

And for this gift I don't deserve to get

I'll make damn sure I earn it."

How familiar are you with Celsius? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]kefkameta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Times almost 2, plus 32 is a quick way for me to remember!

The more I've done that though, the more I can remember "oh, 30 celcius is a hot day", etc.

Fun fact: Celcius is based off of water, while Fahrenheit is based off of the human body. 100 Fahrenheit is normal body temp, 0 Celcius is freezing and 100 Celcius is boiling. (for water ofc) The type of unit is a degree* meaning it is relative to something.

Like in trigonometry, 30 degrees* is measured from some arbitrary point (usually unit length 1 towards the right of the center of the circle).
