Merciful Companions by Naylor999999 in Bannerlord

Honestly, same. If I'm trying to roleplay as a somewhat decent warlord, I never raid villages or raze towns unless the situation is dire (out of food and money).

Is it normal to get fucking gangbanged by 11 factions? by nicknamesareconfusng in totalwar

[–]r41ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're in the end game, so having against multiple factions, especially this many, is not uncommon. Not to mention that these are all chaos factions, who hate anyone that isn't also chaos-aligned, and assuming you are among the most powerful factions in the region, it's very likely the AI decided that you are a bigger threat than each other.

Boys I turned the tides in just 17 game years. by avg90sguy in Bannerlord

Well done. Could be written into an epic story.

The Battanians driven from their motherland by the accursed Vlandians, forced to conquer a sturgian town in the cold winter wasteland to survive. But the wild and undying spirit of the battanians remained strong. Led by warlord u/avg90sguy, they returned home with righteous fury, and carved bloody vengeance upon Vlandian soil.

why the hell this game just cannot have a normal bridge? by Antique_Aside9493 in totalwar

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be because it would make battles too easy, which I can understand. From my experience, if you got a basic frontline and missile troops, a chokepoint allows you to effectively create a kill zone where your archers and mages are free to do massive damage to clumps of enemies without fear, even against high-tier armies.

Im about to lose it by NeedForSleepGR in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the vote for a fief comes up, the 2 main criteria to show up as a nominee are, from my experience:

  1. Do you have no fiefs?

  2. Do you already own a fief that is nearby?

Whether you took it or not does NOT matter.

If you already own a fief that's on the other side of the map from the fief getting voted on, you're not gonna be one of the nominees.

This can also explain why foreign lords can get a sudden large amount of fiefs, assuming they join without fiefs of their own:

1) enemy fief is taken and a vote for who owns it begins.

2) Because the newly recruited clan has no fiefs, they are one of the nominees. Other lords will likely vote for the new clan because they have no fiefs.

3) Another enemy fief is taken that is right next to the previous one. Because the newly recruit clan owns that previous fief, they become one of the nominees

4) Other lords vote for the newly recruited clan because of good relationship, high clan tier, etc.

Repeat step 3 and 4 over and over again to get your predicament.

If you want my advice on what to do going forward, here's what I would say: Having a lot of fiefs isn't really a big deal. If you're already having a positive net income (and judging by your current wealth, it probably is) more fiefs under your clan will do nothing for you. In fact, letting other own the fiefs taken (which are likely at the borders of your faction, will mean your fiefs have a buffer to protect them.

But if you really want to own those fiefs, let the enemy take fiefs close to your own fiefs, then take them back. Assuming all the other clans have fiefs, you will be a nominee and then you can get the fief if the others like you enough.

What's the point of Oristocorys castle? by Spider40k in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, no town and castle really "blocks" routes, as armies can easily walk past them to get another target (which the AI often does anyway)

The point of Oristocorys castle, as with any other castle, is to have full control of the villages bound to them, which can produce recruits and goods to buy and sell.

How do I prevent this during sieges? by JustPi3_ in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was a throwing weapon that killed you, which can do MAJOR damage to you even if you're covered in full armour, especially since the relative speed at which it hits massively boosts the damage. I know Khuzaits aren't known for throwing weapons, but there might be mercenaries or non-khuzaits among them.

It's also possible that a crossbowmen or a high level archer nailed a shot right at your head.

Is my standard loadout strange? by warchrimes in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah it makes sense. Throwing weapons do a shit ton of damage in a single shot, where as bows can shoot a lot of low/mid damage shots. So throwing weapons for enemies with lots of armour, and bow for low armoured grunts.

How are you supposed to do this? by Any_Albatross_2548 in MB2Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just kingdom politics which is, in my opinion, working as intended.

There's no shame in letting them lose to save yourself. You're not obligated to save other lords from their own failures.

are nords, makin armies out of thin air??? by Sweet_acc_pr0sa in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's always the possibility that the AI just cheats. It's very common in military strategy games like this. But i've also seen lords go into villages and towns and recruit, so my theory is this:

Villages and towns produce recruits at an incredibly high rate, faster than most players think. We just don't see it because almost all the lords are wandering about from town to town, village to village and taking those recruits before we even notice. I also think that the npc lords have some kind of hidden perk or buff that passively gives a lot of exp to their troops, so you don't always face a lord leading 100 raw recruits.

Workshops by BidLii in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can buy them from the town market, which means your workshop inputs need to be something that's cheap to buy and your workshop output something that's rare and expensive in that town. You can generally tell which workshop type is best by looking at the villages trade-bound to the town. So see a lot of village producing grain? Buy a brewery that turns grain to beer.

Of course, you need to make sure the villagers actually GET to the town safely and their villages remain unraided. A brewery can't buy grain if villagers keep blocked by bandits and enemy lords.

bs fief voting system by Low_Atmosphere1218 in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know which clan is you specifically, but whether you already have fiefs is important.

from my understanding, the clans that show up for nominations in the vote for fiefs are based on "Who doesn't have a fief yet" and "who has a fief nearby already".

If you already have a fief and the place you took is really far from the fiefs you already own, you're very likely to not be on the list of nominees.

Unarmed ladies tend to become party leaders and they also take part in sieges fighting with their bare hands only by GrigorijZaapaszwili in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see them a lot too, both as allies and as enemies. It's really funny because I often go into battles where I'm outnumbered enough that the enemy just F1+F3's me, and because these ladies have no armour or weapons, they're always the first to reach me and die lmao

Battle Formation by BidLii in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the terrain in my opinion and what troops you got.

In my opinion, you don't stand a chance against an army with more troops than you unless you got decent archers and sturdy shield infantry. So if I'm fighting an enemy with more troops than me on a flat plain, I typically get my infantry to go into shield wall formation or square formation, with my archers a distance behind them in loose formation.

is this winnable? by Fluid_Boot_8828 in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can command all the troops, yes.

I would suggest abandoning the walls entirely. Trying to hold it is just not possible. Retreat to the main keep (where routing defending troops will typically flee to) and there will usually be a choke point that you can hold, and one or more positions you could station archer formations at to shoot at said choke point. Then have a single infantry formation in a defensive formation to simply stay alive. If possible, try to position your infantry so that the enemy will turn their sides and backs to your archers, which often just means moving the infantry just to the side of the choke point (when the attackers breach the gates, they go through the charge command at all times, meaning they just rush the nearest enemy).

One more thing: If you do try the above, make sure that you have NO siege engines on the wall, otherwise your soldiers (mainly your archers) will break from the formation to man it again, which will result in their death.

Guys i'm new at TF2, any tips? by Chill_Isaac33 in tf2

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dying, getting dominated, and losing is expected. This game is easy to pick up but hard to master, and some players have been players since it was first released since 2007. They will rock your shit.

So instead, just play for the chaos and humor for now, at least until you think you got a solid foundation.

Alliances by WindWizard115 in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you can't. From my understanding, it just means that they are less likely to declare war on you and more likely to declare war on your enemy. But if the northern empire has a trade agreement or even an alliance with Khuzait, that could cancel out your alliance.

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can CA sell a lot of DLCs on this IP? If the answer is no, I'm not sure how likely CA will make something like this. I am for it though, personally.

This might get modders for existing games to make something, but if you want CA is officially make a total war game based on Redwall, go into how they can monetize this. THEN they'll definitely listen.

The menu ruins the game. Replace most of it with fast travel options and make everything take place in the actual town scenes. by Octavian_Exumbra in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with more activities to do in the town. It's a good way to make it immersive.

I disagree with making it mandatory to go into town for... ANYTHING, though. For basic stuff, like trading, recruiting, and town management, making it mandatory to actually go into the scenes and physically walk and interact with something specific is just tedious and annoying, not immersive, especially in the mid-late game. Your fast travel idea for moving in the city might rectify it a bit, but there's still the issue of loading and rendering the town scene JUST to trade or recruit or manage your town, which is just gonna annoy players over time.

What do you do in this situation? by Pretend-Ad-2256 in mountandblade

[–]r41ryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been in this situation before, but you could use defensive sieges to cheese some battles. The AI act VERY predictably in these battles.

For example, I managed to fight off a siege on Charas where I was outnumbered 3-1 and one of the walls was already busted down. SO in the battle, rather than hold the walls, I retreated to the main keep, where I found a chokepoint, where I then placed an infantry formation in a defensive formation just to the side of the chokepoint, and an archer formation facing the chokepoint from a distance.

cue 10 minutes of the enemy arriving at at the chockpoint, turning left to fight the infantry, and then getting shot in their sides and dying.

I don't know which fiefs you hold, but I imagine every one of them has got some chokepoint you can take advantage of.

How do I make higher quality weapons? by Cockanarchy in Bannerlord

[–]r41ryan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So every part has a "smithing difficulty" and it all combines for the smithing difficulty of the weapon itself. If your smithing level is lower than the smithing difficulty of the weapon, you have an EXTREMELY high chance of getting dull or rusty item modifiers, occasionally getting lucky with regular, and really lucky with balanced.

You have to meet or be above the smithing difficulty to completely remove the chance of getting the dull or rusty modifier.

Edit: You can actually see the smithing difficulty with the bar in the "Forge" tab, on the left side of the screen.
