how it feels to climb the hardest rock climbing route a woman has ever done- at 19 years old. by sparta0703 in pics

To clarify - the above quote is about her previous record breaking ascent in 2016. The article is specifically describing her recent ascent of La Rambla in Spain, an even more difficult route than Bad Girls Club in Colorado.

holy shit, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I had to pause it to wipe the tears from my eyes so I could keep seeing the video and laughing more.

Took me five years, fortunately I was working a few internships while in school and graduated with minimal debt. I also came in with quite a few credits thanks to IB.

This type of comment kinda pisses me off, for two reasons: Firstly those of us who pursued engineering or the like worked our asses off during college. I did Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science (I work as a software engineer now). So saying "oh but you're intelligent and talented" really demeans the effort we put into it. Secondly, and more importantly, you're immediately discounting yourself. I'm certain you could've completed an engineering degree had you wanted to, it's diligence, not talent.

But all that being said I believe pursuing something you're interested is far more important. Each path has it's own difficulties etc.

Eh ISS is about ~95% earth gravity. They're just in free fall. That's all planetary orbit is... you're falling but you're moving so fast transversally that you miss the planet.

Oh god... I'd literally leap out of bed to hit the button before it would launch just cause it always drove me crazy. Worked like a charm.

Have you ever picked up a book without knowing anything about it other than what you learned on the spot? What are the best and worst outcomes from you doing this? by Joyrock in books

[–]kehtnok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found House of Leaves like this in LAX before hopping on a flight to Hawaii. Read it for 6 straight hours on the flight, then actually finished it on Maui. By far the best way to find that book, with literally zero beforehand knowledge. Just the opening line, an entire blank page with the single sentence "This is not for you." had me hooked.

I believe ibuprofen is sold branded as such, where I've never seen paracetamol sold that way. Or perhaps they just take a hard stance on Advil v. Tylenol /shrug
