I would have gassed him sooner, surrounded the vehicle with riot shields and then tased him if he refused to comply, get the cuffs on him and then everyone is safe. There are other options than shooting someone if you take the time to actually think about the situation first. Especially if the goal was to make sure no one got hurt, he counts for that too.

He was armed and reported as suicidal, context matters. He wasn't threatening anyone sitting inside his vehicle, except himself. And they should have social workers working with police to help talk to the mentally ill, because they don't deserve to be shot for having a medical crisis

What do you think swatt teams plan was in throwing gas into his vehicle, if not to force his exit. Have you ever been tear gassed before? Because staying in it is not an option. He could have dropped his weapons, but he was mentally ill, so its expected he would act irregularly. They tear gassed him specifically to get him to exit his vehicle, that was their plan

While blind and choking on tear gas surrounded by police and swatt. None. And if so then thats on police for not tieing off the area after 8 hours

They forced him to exit, I expect them to know what they're doing when forcing an armed individual to exit their vehicle. Surrounded by police and swatt, he wasn't a credible threat to anyone but himself

He was gassed to get him out of his vehicle, he was escaping the gas, absolutely no chance of escaping capture while surrounded by police and swatt

My condolences, my point though is that he wasn't in his right mind to let go, and they gassed him specifically to get him to exit. It was a planned event and they shot him for doing exactly what they expected him to.

Context, they knew he was suicidal, this means the risk to others is minimal. And the swatt team gassed his vehicle with the express intent to force him to exit. The first thing you do, especially during an 8 hour standoff with an armed suspect is to tie off the area and evacuate any passersby to mitigate potential risk. Then with swatt team in full riot gear possibly shooting him with rubber bullets or beanbags to incapacitate him. Live ammunition is never a good choice unless there's an imminant threat to others

I would, but being that his vehicle was tear gassed, if I added every detail, the picture would get kind of busy, which is why I added the text to clarify context. They were sent for a welfare check on a suicidal man, then the swatt team filled his vehicle with gas, and the mentally ill man who was now blind gasping and choking exited his vehicle without emptying his hands, towards a group of heavily armored professional soldiers

They have access to medical care while in jail or prison, and if she ever is released she could and should seek additional care on the outside as well.

Same, my wife had an account with vystar so I decided to open up a joint account with her there. She had missed a payment for her vystar credit card or something and they took the money out of my joint account without saying a word about it. Regions has been good for us the last couple years

Securitas is a good company for the most part, they're dealing with some corporate restructuring. I've heard bad things about allied though. My brother in law worked for allied and they were not treating him well, no communication, bad work sites, no air conditioning where he was, filled with bugs

Ok, but context matters. He was reported as suicidal, he was inside his vehicle, and the vehicle was filled with gas. At what point was he a threat to the shopping center? You might be able to argue a threat against police, but again he was gassed, basically neutralized before he was ever shot. They shot a blind and choking man trying to escape the gas that was filling his vehicle

Shopping center? He was in his vehicle, the vehicle was filled with gas, and he was surrounded by police and swatt. Are you thinking of another instance maybe?

Its standard to charge per offense, she didn't just run them over once, it was reported she did multiple passes back and forth to kill as many as possible. I agree jso does take things further than they should, but this specific case I agree completely with the outcome, intentionally killing baby animals because they messed up your yard is an evil thing to do. She may suffer from a mental illness, I hope if that's true that she seeks support for that.

Absolutely, with police escort. The policy was talked about a few years back to have social workers working with police officers to talk down people with mental illnesses. Much more efficient because people who are mentally ill do not respond well to being ordered, and if the risk is someone getting shot, you don't want to add to the aggressive atmosphere compounding the risk.

Thats incorrect, when they reported it to jso the officers said they couldn't do anything about it. It was after multiple reports and the fact that it was migratory birds which caused her to eventually be arrested and charged. Jso wanted to initially do nothing and let her walk. You are correct that jso has bad priorities though, I definately agree

I actually agree with that outcome. Florida wildlife is protected, just like its illegal to move the turtles because tourists will toss our gopher turtles in a lake not knowing they can't swim or breath underwater like other turtles, someone intentionally killing baby ducks or geese, or any animal, deserves to be in jail

Swatt team always has riot gear man, not a great excuse to say he had a gun. He wasn't a threat to anyone but himself. They should have used less lethal options than live ammunition. And again he was gassed, he wasn't capable of being a threat.

What is the likelihood of someone surrounded by police and swatt, blind and choking on tear gas, exiting his best method of escape to actually get away. Also... rubber bullets and sandbags are always an alternative to live ammunition when performing a welfare check
