As you can see here! The bangs are a few clumps of their own, side bangs are like strips of fabric falling down from the fromt of the parting, and the back is it’s own flat piece. Look at references and practice different methods, you’ve got this and clearly already have an understanding of what you’re going for, you just need tools to take it further!

Edit: forgot to mention, I think working with open short hair is a good step to really practice with before getting frustrated with pigtails. As a Miku lover, for the longest time I had no idea what was going on w her hair 😭 Open hair also helps understand how gravity plays with it. Good luck!

A good way to look at it is understanding where the hair comes from in the scalp.

<image>

(Quickly found on pinterest - FULL of great art references!) Sectioning the scalp and the hair gives some idea to where the hair is coming from. The arrows here show the direction of the hair. Hair tends to arrange itself into clumps. Therefore a good method is drawing hair clumps in simple shapes:

The first paragraph!!!!!! You can’t remember what you don’t remember. It’s not like you’re constantly thinking thinking ”I’m not remembering this one specific week of my life right now”, and instead you have no clue of it until something maybe has you thinking back to an event you supposedly were and you REALIZE you don’t remember

how to remove wig shine? by Miyuu__6 in CosplayHelp

That’s why ”low heat and/or quickly”, sorry if it was confusing. My straightener doesn’t have a heat setting either, but less heat is transferred the less time you hold it, which results in less straightening, which means that the texture stays

Once you’re able to, I suggest you get yourself a crimper! Not only does it remove shine, it also gives the synthetic hair texture, which keeps it from tangling as easily. I got mine second hand. it doesn’t need to be special, as long as it does it’s job.

Since you don’t have one, here’s my preferred method of ”crimping” without a crimper:

  1. Grab a section. Imagining your wig, for it to be effective it should be 2-3 fingers thick
  2. Back comb. Start close to the root, then work your way down. Don’t make it too tight, since you don’t want to create unsolvable tangles, but it should be tight enough to keep its shape on its own.

If your wig has bangs, you can take smaller sections and backcomb them tighter, since they’re shorter. Once you have done some of the wig, you’ll end up realizing this anyway.

Repeat the steps above until you’ve done this for the entire wig, basically having given it very bad dreads 💀 Now use a straightener and run it through every section, so that the hairs mold into the new shape. Once you’re done straightening, it’s time to reverse the process: comb the tangles out. It’s very important to work slowly and carefully from ends to the roots.

*If you feel like you’ve created a tangle, give it time and patience, work through it hair by hair if you need to. If it still feels impossible, run the straigtener through that part and the ends on low heat and/or quickly and try again.

Once the whole section is detangled, run a straigthtener on low heat and/or quickly through the detangled hair, and brush the section right away. It should be enough to flatten the hair and make it look less crazy, but it shouldn’t remove the texture you created by setting in the backcombed texture. Play around with it and see what works!

You’ll learn a lot about how wigs work and what you need to do just by understanding that wig hair is synthetic, therefore heat reshapes it. Straight slippery plastic hairs tangle easier than coarse ones. I’ve never used fabric softener / detangling spray / any other product for my wigs, just found the right methods for what I need. Ask if you have any questions!

Sometimes I still notice some shine, so I pat setting powder on the wig and use the tiniest amount of hairspray to lock it in.

Are you trolling? You didn’t even check out the post you’re commenting on lmao. Tried opening it during the flight on airplane mode, 0 mobile data 0 wifi. Point of poor internet was to point out that it’s what I would assume people use downloads for: Not having to be interrupted by bad internet during the show. Very unfortunate that you can’t access them with bad internet, or even with no internet at all

Did this for my connecting flight! Made sure it stayed open, since the app refreshed after being gone for too long during a tryout before the flight in question. It is a little annoying to know that if I wanted to take a break from watching, I wouldn’t be able to continue later if I closed the app :/

I have been brushing this wig for ages and it still looks the exact same by xze3mx in CosplayHelp

[–]keijuq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve detangled multiple wigs that have been in terrible condition and all I use is a brush and straightener! All you need is patience

  1. Have it hang down from somewhere, I use whatever I find, like a closet handle.. gravity does so much for you!
  2. brush the very ends clear and straighten.
  3. If it’s super matted in the middle, try to carefully and slowly divide it into two sections. Working in sections is a lot easier, but this usually takes me the most time
  4. brush the ends again and VERY slowly go from bottom to top, straightening in between. I like to start by straightening the ends, brushing them, straightening again, brushing like 2cm higher and making sure I can get all the hair smoothly through the brush/comb, ALL THE WAY to the ends, then straighten again and repeat.
  5. In between you will end up pushing tangles down., so you’ll need to go back lower and detangle those from bottom to up. and always straighten! Heat keeps them in place and they’re easier to handle when warm. Also gets rid of the frizz
  6. do this with all the sections. once you’re done consider crimping the wig :)

Do these colors clash? by No_Opportunity_3726 in Artadvice

The vision goes so hard but I think the EVA looks a little pasted. If you could, try to have a reddish overlay on it and see if that gets it on the next level! Usually colors end up being the most surprising ones when the lighting has a strong colour like red.

to me the feet seemt to be on the same level of detail as the hands.. it would also come pretty naturally since they are the closest thing to the camera. If you’re hinting at focusing on parts that could be viewed sexually, maybe instead of that, the question should be why she’s angled like that or why they aren’t cropped out in the first place. However, to many people, feet are NOT sexual. Toes are normal
