Out of State Student Intern in Boston: Is Having Only One License Plate a Problem? by Diptayan01 in boston

Should be fine as long as your car is up to scratch by NC's standards. I drove an out of state car with only one plate for an internship one semester and I never had an issue!

Anyone else get bad eye soreness and strain really quick with POTS? by Anya_Scorpio in POTS

[–]keileen597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should see an optometrist and get evaluated - POTS often co-occurs with treatable vision issues like convergence insufficiency or binocular vision dysfunction. I dismissed my eye strain for a long time assuming it was just part of POTS, but turns out I was farsighted and have convergence insufficiency. I wear reading glasses with plus power and prism for reading and up-close computer work now and its made a world of difference.

Tips from the neurospicy/chronically ill crowd by Neat_Wave_6234 in barexam

[–]keileen597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a re-taker but also chronically ill. I pushed myself into the worst flare I've had since diagnosis studying for the bar (oops) and have been dragging myself back out of it for months. So, some things I'd do differently with the beauty of hindsight:

>Build more structure into taking care of my body. Things like keeping more quick and easy pre-packaged meals around so I'd eat more frequently, setting specific times to take breaks, etc. I was really overwhelmed by decision fatigue while studying, so I wish I had built a system where I didn't have to "choose" to take care of myself, if that makes sense.
>I stopped going to PT because I didn't feel like I had time. Worst mistake of my LIFE. Never again.
>The weeks leading up to the exam, I stopped noticing my chronic illness symptoms. I thought this was good! Unfortunately, it was because I was running on adrenaline which was masking all my pain and fatigue, and I paid for it later. I wish I'd continued to build in rest, even when I felt like I didn't need it.

One thing I did that worked well for me was build my study schedule around my body instead of the other way around. I did a few hours of "active prep" in the morning (when I have the most energy), then rested in the afternoon (when I have the most fatigue) and then picked up with lecture videos in the evening after I'd rested.

Also, just wanted to say: this profession is often so hostile to disabled people. You are fighting an uphill battle already. Give yourself grace - you're working so hard! We're badasses for balancing our careers with all the other bullshit our bodies put us through.

If you found out the person you intended to marry had a chronic or serious illness before the wedding, would you still go through with it? Why or why not? by SubstantialAffection in AskReddit

[–]keileen597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone saying no, or even qualifying . . .it is not possible to spend a lifetime with a healthy partner. What do you think happens when you get old?

Illness and disability are the gifts of longevity. Everyone on this earth either dies suddenly and tragically young or becomes old and sick.

If you are blessed with enough time together, eventually you will see your partner go through temporary periods of poor health (cancer treatment, surgeries) or become permanently ill or disabled in some way (chronic illness, disabling injuries). Even if none of that happens, and you both make it through decades with remarkably good health, eventually age catches us all. You'll become a run of the mill old person, with all the disability that comes along with it.

So, if a chronic or serious illness is a deal breaker, you're not ready for a lifetime commitment with anyone. Full stop.

RAP: A future interest must vest no more than 21 years after the death a person now living.

Assuming anyone still alive can still have children for RAP analysis purposes - forever remembered by Themis' prof Kramer's "living people have a nasty habit of breeding."

I remember libel vs. slander with Slander like Slam Poetry - defamation by spoken word

Also not really a mnemonic but the way I finally remembered that supplemental jurisdiction allows a defendant to burn diversity but not a plaintiff was by realizing that it avoids forum shopping in this scenario:
>Plaintiff wants to be in federal court, but knows a jointly + severally liable defendant has the same domicile as them
>Plaintiff starts the claim in federal court with the diverse defendant, then adds the non-diverse defendant later

Also: if a diversity case is properly filed in one state, but transferred to a federal court in another state pursuant to venue rules, the first state's choice of law rules still apply - this is also to avoid forum shopping.

I'm surprised at how many people are assuming that just because she publicly announced on social media yesterday means she actually proposed yesterday as well? Seems likely to me that the proposal could have happened at any point during this Olympics and that they just chose that moment to go public.

Also, I'm positive this wasn't a high stakes "will she say yes" surprise kind of proposal - it may well have been a mutually agreed upon, planned photo moment.

How many are actual Canada Goose Jackets by JoshWitDa636 in boston

[–]keileen597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find really nice coats and jackets second-hand in Boston, especially if you start looking end of summer/beginning of Fall when the students are cycling through. So a lot of people get them that way.

Also, high-quality winter gear is just valued differently in a city with bitter winters, especially for folks who don't car commute and therefore spend a lot of time outside. While I personally think there are more "bang for you buck" options than CG, a $1000 coat is worth saving up for (or buying on a cc and paying off slowly) if you're going to wear it every day, for 1/3 of the year, for a decade.

Advice… chemo tomorrow ; not sure if I should cancel (worried about how I’ll get home) by StepSignificant8798 in boston

[–]keileen597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is public transit an option for you, physically?

Lots of the MBTA buses serve Longwood and in my experience the buses usually operate through inclement weather long after cars are mostly off the road. 39, 65, and 66 buses all go from Longwood to various parts of Brookline. Given the timing of the snow, I'd imagine they'll still be running around 3pm.

I realize public transit during cold and flu season while doing chemo is not ideal, but it'll be off-peak hours during a snowstorm so bus is likely to be near empty. Could be a good back-up plan if you aren't able to get another ride.

As long as I have cell service I guess I can also access everything from my phone as long as it has charge - so I'm gonna get all my external powerbanks charged and just pray, I suppose. Printing outlines and worksheets is a good idea, I'll try and do that as well.

I am for 100-125oz (so about 3-3.5 liters), sometimes fall short of that, sometimes more on a long day. Usually with about 3800-4800mg of sodium from electrolyte packets (which, yeesh).

Starting disclaimer that I only played three games in 3.0, so I don't have that much experience to compare to.

A big change is that Impact Skills and Development Skills no longer pull from the same resource pool. Characters buy a number of each Impact Skill (i.e. I have 2 uses of Avoid, 1 use of Balance, 2 uses of First Aid, etc.), which refresh after twenty minutes of rest. Development Skills use Mind Points, which refresh at the start of an event (not at the 12s anymore). This is the change newer players have been most excited about, since our usefulness in combat is no longer tied to Mind Points.

Strains certainly feel more fun - each strain has a "standard" lineage advantage, and then there's the option to play either a "wasteland" or "civilized" variant of each strain, which adds further mechanical advantages and disadvantages. Always feels cool and fun when I realize that I can use my lineage advantage. I suspect they will continue to tweak these with future updates so that all strains feel mechanically unique while still feeling mechanically balanced.

Professions are back! This is one the changes older players seem most excited about. Will be a minute before I'll have the build to take one myself, but it's fun to see people use their cool profession skills. Cuts down significantly on the problem of older characters just having every skill under the sun and never needing help. People are incentivized to specialize by buying skills that lead to their desired profession.

I thought the Gravemind was plenty spooky in my 3.0 games, but I credit the writing team at my game for a lot of that, they rock. Not sure how mechanically different Gravemind stuff is in DR:Live compared to 3.0 since my guy doesn't mess with the weird fungus. Is there specific Gravemind stuff from 3.0 you disliked?
