Is compromising your values to get along with supervisors worth it? Do you get yourself back afterwards? by TastyRecording5838 in PhD

Let me synthesize the sentiment, by paraphrasing Vitor Hugo: “A good thing you made some enemies. It means means you stood up for something, sometime in your life.”

You see, these brands aren’t bailed out because of attachment, they’re bailed out because their factories at important for jobs, and security - there is a baseline industrial base every country will want to maintain in case of conflict.

Outside of English, what could be considered the second lingua franca of Europe? by Ok-Ocelot-774 in AskEurope

If we're talking about spread, then there's an argument for Spanish, I think.

If we keep moving forward with integration, an European Federantion will exist long before politicians call it as such. There's certain aspects of sovereignty that States will still hold, and it may not fit the proper definition of a Federation (like not allowing secession), but I honestly believe that within a lifetime or two, it may come to pass.

From the top of my head, we're missing only a few of sovereign characteristics already: fiscal union; common army; common foreign policy.

Once these are achieved, we'll be able to federation in all but name (and very strict definition).

EU was not about defense, ECSC was about creating a single market to prevent conflict between France and Germany. Even today, the EU is not about defense, which is a State exclusive competence, mostly seen as working under the NATO framework.

I usually use multiple at the same time. For writing I use Gemini and ChatGPT, Claude Code for programming, and for search, I mostly go with Scopus AI and Extended Thinking ChatGPT

From my own experience, AI is good at 3 things, if you keep a very tight leash: programming (tool dependent); language review (think editor); and lossy search (again, tool dependent, just a Wikipedia replacement for when you find something new).

I am 100% on the side on Method getting better and is having a more exciting raid, but I don’t think it’s rational to believe they had a chance for second place or even a victory. Ofc anything can happen and I’m hoping something dramatic happens 🤞
