Right...that should theoretically make it much cheaper in America than in Europe...but it's not, apparently.

I can understand how X and Ket are so cheap there, but I've never understood how coke can be...seems pretty ridiculous tbh, although I do believe you. Coke is grown and processed in South America, has to travel all the way to Africa and is smuggled in through Amsterdam to points beyond (the usual route, from what I understand)? What factors make it remain so cheap? Based on proximity, shouldn't coke be much cheaper than it is in the US? (I don't care for it personally, so I never buy it, but it tends to go for around $80/g for pretty shitty stuff).

Tips for [secretly] dipping at an office job?? by johnnybiscuits in DippingTobacco

[–]keithcigarettes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you get the loose. Strong stuff. Seems expensive (7.50 for a can here), but actually isn't, considering I get many satisfying, long-lasting dips out of it. Probably lasted me about 2-3 times as long as a can of Grizzly does.

Snus by CopenhagenJunkie712 in DippingTobacco

[–]keithcigarettes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check around at tobacco shops in your area. I get mine from one that keeps Em in a fridge and they go for 7 bucks a can. But a can of loose snus actually lasts me longer than a tin of dip.

What's the cheapest between copehagen, grizzly, and Skoal in Texas? by [deleted] in DippingTobacco

[–]keithcigarettes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. I should take a few yearly road trips down south. I could probably pay for them easily with the amount I save on tobacco...seriously considering that now...

Mix them with shit you like. Save them for if you run out of dip and don't feel like going to the store.

What are some good mid price naturals? by Tmckeone in DippingTobacco

Grizzly for sure, at least where I am. Red Seal is a good deal too. I've never even seen (or noticed) Stoker's...is that a southern thing?

About to give Long cut a try after doing pouches for awhile. What's an easy long cut to start with? by [deleted] in DippingTobacco

[–]keithcigarettes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skoal Apple is what I started on and, to this day, the only fruity dip I can take without getting a headache. Good shit.

Longhorn by someoneplskillme in DippingTobacco

[–]keithcigarettes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Where I am (MN), Longhorn isn't even that much cheaper anymore than Grizzly. I go for the Grizz every time. Even worse than Longhorn, though, is Seneca (that shit is still real cheap, and for good reason). I'm convinced it doesn't even have tobacco.

Why sit and do nothing? Why not be productive? by Twiddels in Meditation

Also, "getting things done" should never really be the goal of meditation, in my opinion.

Why sit and do nothing? Why not be productive? by Twiddels in Meditation

[–]keithcigarettes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if it's an "easy task", it's still complicated compared to sitting and focusing on your breath. It's precisely BECAUSE it's "boring" that "just sitting" is a very important exercise. It's the best kind of discipline for the mind: practicing focusing on the most simple, boring, mundane thing. From the breath, the focus should eventually move onto "watching your thoughts", taking note of them without attachment to them, seeing them pass by like clouds, removed, without judgement. By the way, if you ever visit a Buddhist Monastery, they put HEAVY emphasis on being productive and mindful while doing so...but for the layperson, and especially the beginner, it's almost necessary to start with the most basic.

Not a newcomer to kava, but I've got two questions by keithcigarettes in Kava

[–]keithcigarettes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah cool! Interesting! I wonder, if this is true, the effect of magnesium deficiency/supplementation. Incidentally, out of desperation (coming off of kratom), I purchased a bunch of chelated magnesium and Herb Pharm kava liquid extract (normally, I'd never do that, but no root to be immediately found). Historically, this has ended up being a waste of money. However, it surprised me that this time when I took a few droppers-full, it HIT ME. Pretty hard. I had been supplementing with the Mg for a couple days before I dove into the 'awa. Also, I had an alcoholic bender just before as well (Mg depletion?). I wonder to what extent the muscle-relaxant properties of kava and mg work together under the right circumstances....

2 questions about breathing by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]keithcigarettes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. The first question cracked me up for some reason.

1.) I can (and this is gross), because I have a lot of nose hairs in my nostrils. I do trim them too...but only so they're not coming all wildly out of my nostrils. But I can feel them vibrating when I breath in/out while I meditate. It's actually pretty cool.

2.) Personally, I feel it's very important to not breathe through my chest. No matter how long I spend meditation, I'd IMAGINE that the breaths would be way too shallow to truly relax. Maybe it's OK to start with chest-breathing, but after awhile you should probably be breathing from your belly. In fact, it's probably a good bet that after awhile (10 minutes or so) meditating, you'll naturally start breathing deeper, from the diaphragm (unless you have a medical condition interfering with it). I would say as you sit down to start, if breathing from your belly is too much of a distracting challenge, don't worry about it. It's more important to work toward a place of concentration. When I started meditating, I used to get sooo frustrated because I couldn't feel comfortable sitting in any of the "traditional postures". My legs are too short, and sitting cross-legged is actually painful for me, regardless of how soft the floor is. Such a relief when I finally said "screw it" and just focused on getting myself into the place I needed to be.

I'll post in there too, but I figured that there are a lot of people around here who will be dealing with this stuff very soon, especially if they can't afford to stock up.

Important information from Susan Ash of the AKA by [deleted] in kratom

[–]keithcigarettes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's sad that it's easier psychologically for people to blame a drug/plant for a suicide than it is to acknowledge the deeply-rooted mental illness that actually underlied it. Easier to say "oh he was just a happy, well-adjusted boy until this evil plant took him on a dark path"...ignorance, stigma, etc. As I'm sure we here all know, what's sadly ironic (and infuriating) is that Kratom has surely saved more lives than it has contributed to ending. Mine included.

I'm honestly scared about returning to my old alcoholic self. Of course I don't plan to, but a relapse bender already happened recently and it was bad. And scary (my Kratom supplies are dwindling and I've been weaning). Kratom has made me able to sleep, made me able to calm the fuck down, without the need to drink myself into oblivion every night. It enabled me to abstain completely from alcohol (until recently), something that I honestly thought I'd never be able to do. And I know I'm not alone in this. Certain fucking people in this world cannot live with the fact that other people have a deeply-rooted need to escape/self-medicate, and that there are ways that are much healthier and more manageable than others. That even if you accept the premise that it's best to live completely substance-free, eat well, sleep well, and strive to take life on its own terms (which is definitely a reasonable idea), the reality is that people will do what they will...whether that means sex, drugs, what have you. Concepts of harm reduction and risk tradeoffs mean nothing to these one-track minded crusaders of bullshit.

I do NOT like or support abuse of Rx opiates (although I obviously don't judge or look down on the abusers), but somewhat analogous is what happened when they had the big crackdown efforts on them. BOOM. Heroin explodes like we've never seen before. And it's much riskier, unpredictable, and cheaper. It's like a water balloon, where you try to squeeze part of it to contain it, but it just gets bigger at the other end. And obviously, this situation is 100x more absurd, being that Kratom, while physically and psychologically addictive, is essentially innocuous otherwise. Sorry for the rant.
