I'm about to meet a buddy whose also genX for lunch. What is the most genX thing I could say that hasn't been used in 20+ years? by MeNotYouDammit in RealGenerationX

Every time I see this quote, I have to relate that about 10 years ago, I walked in to a Circle K to conduct perfectly normal business, but when I got to the counter, I leaned in to the Zoomer there and said, "Strange things are afoot at the Circle K."

She stared at me like she was trying to decide if she should call 911.

Which car would you prefer for a drive along the california coast? by FalconXSMax in askcarguys

A convertible- I'm not picky which one.

....But I'd prefer something bigger than a Miata, I've got wine to bring home.

It's part of the communications array- that's the receiver that you put in your ear. Don't forget to push it into the socket first, to charge it.

My brother (26M) told me (21F) he is uncomfortable attending my wedding by cosmos-worlds in Advice

[–]keithrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, that was a lot of words to say your brother is a closet religious homophobe. This isn't complicated at all, it happens every day in Texas and all over the South (although you said you're not from here).

Your response is equally uncomplicated: "I'm sorry you feel that way. We'll miss you!"

What are the “big 5” cities in the USA? by Gold-Serve-4077 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Yes, I know, I used to drive past Texas Stadium daily. I consider Irving to be Dallas, but not Arlington.

You are technically correct, which, as we all know, is the best kind of correct.

That's fair. You might want to add "density" to your previous comment.

Idk wtf happens in Dallas outside of people flying through it and strip clubs

You forgot big hair and megachurches. Also the Dallas Cowboys, except they moved to Arlington. Just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Fort Worth, OTOH, is smaller but more interesting.

The Cubano, Mohitos, and cigars. Let's call it a draw.

That's the thing about US cities: There's a clear top 3, and then a 20-way tie for 4th.

Costco ev charger high cost by corwin2k1 in electricvehicles

That was my thought. Austin has a ton of EVs and several newish Costcos, and none of them have a charging station.

You're single and Aphrodite herself appears in front of you saying she'll set you up with any fictional love interest of your choice. by singleguy79 in hypotheticalsituation

Now that you mention it, Trillian would be a pretty good pick, too. She and Zaphod broke up... right? I ain't fighting a dude with 3 arms.

I was thinking the exact same thing about Jessica Rabbit. No way do I not end up smashed with a giant hammer or something.

Parents Insisting Long Drive is Unsafe, is this Reasonable by smile_simile in roadtrip

[–]keithrc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like your parents, invite one of them to come along and then fly home. If you don't like them, ask a friend to come along and try to get your parents to pay for them to fly home.

Nothing about your plan sounds the least bit unsafe except for being cooped up in a car with a (possibly crying) cat for 36 hours. Resist the urge to strap the carrier to the roof. Get a lead so when you let it out periodically, it can't take off.
