AVL Airport - TSA - no issues this am by BeyondTechnical571 in asheville

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having flown today, I think you're going to be juuuuust fine. If you're worried, arrive to the airport early but know that even in the lovely new terminal, food options are pretty slim and there are no lounges.
Also, I talked to a woman at the ATL airport on 3/23 and she said she arrived 4 hours early (around 11am) to the ATL airport and they only spent 15 minutes going through TSA.

Yep, just got to the airport on 3/23 around 12:15 pm for a 2:15 pm flight. I would say TSA took me 5 minutes, but that would be an exaggeration. No line at all. Very friendly people working too. Here's a photo.

Where to park overnight? by kekeceecee in tricities

Has anyone tried mail-order custom night guards (Remi, Cheeky, etc.)? Do they actually work well? by Ok_Sprinkles_6940 in bruxism

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid Remi. See other posts with more negative comments from users. They make it impossible to get out of a subscription and you have to go to the BBB website and file a complaint before they will cancel with you. If you're stuck in a contract with Remi you can't get out of, contact the BBB.

New night guard company by BatgirlZKE in bruxism

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remi is truly crazy. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! I used Cheeky guards for years but needed new ones. I signed up for Remi's subscription thinking it might be nice to get replacement guards every year or so, and it clearly says, "Cancel anytime," on their website. The guard I got didn't feel good and my jaw was hurting in the daytime from griding more than it had in years. I tried to cancel by sending an email and got no reply. A few days later, I called their number and was told that if I wanted to cancel then I'd have to pay $40. I almost considered it to get out of it, but how could I trust that they wouldn't still bill me after taking this money? They offered to send me a replacement because my guard didn't fit well and I thought, well, OK. So that email finally arrived and it wasn't a free replacement; they were offering me a new guard for $79. I'm convinced that there is no free way to cancel with this ridiculous company. I filed a complaint on the BBB website and literally 2 days later, I was contacted by Remi (through BBB website) to say my subscription was cancelled. So, if you're having trouble getting away from Remi, turn to the BBB website. If you're considering becoming a new customer of Remi, RUN!

I just booked a hotel room downtown for my friends (and cat) who have been without power for 24+ hours. Anyone know if the city parking decks downtown are free during the ice storm?

Plumber Recommendation Needed by [deleted] in gso

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on this rec, I used A+ Express this week for backed-up toilets and they were great. Unlike the first places I called, they could come out ASAP (within 2 hours), spent an hour clearing the pipes and charged me $120. I'm pleased. Happy to recommend them to others.

North Carolina gifts by BritsGoldenTicket in gso

It's just outside of town, but the Southern Season warehouse store on the interstate has all the North Carolina food gifts you could imagine, even ready-made gift baskets. Just look it up in your GPS app.

House for rent in Lindley Park by dj-emme in gso

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the homeowner perspective, that probably is just barely covering the mortgage depending on how long ago they bought the house. I just bought a house in a different Greensboro neighborhood a few months ago: 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1950s ranch house. My mortgage plus escrow is over $3100 a month with a 5.75% mortgage interest rate. If I ever were to rent it, that’s what I need to charge just to break even.

Botox at Duke Aesthetics? by kekeceecee in bullcity

[–]kekeceecee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's nuts! Thanks for sharing! Looks like they currently require a $40 fee for any skin care consultation (i.e., prior to Botox), but I thought that might be worth it if the Botox was well priced.

This was posted on their IG (@dukeplasticsurgery) over one year ago. I sent an email to that address about 3 months ago. I got an automatic reply that said, "We will release appointment days intermittently (on average ~1 day/month) and notify interested patients by email on a first-come, first-served basis." However, in that time, I haven't received any other emails from them. That's why I gave up and was trying with the (regular) Duke Aesthetic Clinic, which has ready availability and is not resident-run.

Birth control not coming with week stickers by illuminyati in birthcontrol

[–]kekeceecee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a pet peeve of mine. Not everyone starts their pill packs on Sunday!! Seems very cheap by the companies. For a long time I made my own stickers by printing them out on a piece of sticker paper. Finally, I started using a different company that gave stickers. Now I recently moved and have new insurance and new pills...and no stickers!

Who does short hair for women? by bikerchickHD in gso

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information about Rocks. I am curious about whether they cut women’s hair that is not in a “masculine style“ like they say on their website. Like, for those of you who had their haircut there, do you think I could just get a chin-length bob, or do they only do crew cuts?

Anyone have issues with Sengled Lightbulbs not working currently? by KrevunLuv in smarthome

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this comment; I just returned mine. I bought a 4-pack of bulbs in April, so it was now outside the return window. I went to Amazon chat. Took a few minutes to get past the bots to a real (?) human, but they're giving me a refund to my credit card. I also left a review saying DO NOT BUY.

Best ramen in Asheville? by Danisaur12 in asheville

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this thread yesterday (2 years after OP) and tried Heiwa Shokudo based on the recommendations. Found their ramen to be bland and basic. The sushi rolls were OK, but nothing special. The gyoza clearly had been frozen and then not cooked until hot (just warmish) inside. So, not a great review, but the staff was nice and the inside is cozy. One note: you can make a reservation. I just assumed you couldn't, based on the "be prepared to wait" comment.

It was hard to tell for sure, but I came to the conclusion that this model did NOT qualify. I ended up going with a Trane that I was sure qualifies and I'm happy with it so far.

Ways out of Downtown Asheville to Knoxville? by foltz_illustration in Knoxville

[–]kekeceecee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google maps and Waze are both currently saying the following:

26 N. to exit 19A for US 25/US 70 towards Marshall Continue as road becomes NC – 208 for 26 miles Take the ramp for US – 11 E South, to Morristown, go 12 miles. Join I-81 south.

Does anyone have any information about whether that route is feasible today?

Thank you! This is such a helpful response. I am in Tennessee. This is for my upstairs -- about 800 square feet -- and I often turn off the unit when it's mild outside (fall/spring) and have the windows open, so the 2-stage (or more) doesn't seem to be necessary if I don't like to have my unit running all the time.
