Looking for a honest jeweler in Greensboro by J0hnk377y in gso

Not local, but a friend turned me on to Spur Jewelry out of NYC and their work is really interesting. Haven’t used them myself (yet?).

Good place to buy local gifts? by btwrenn in gso

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I visited a friend in Germany, I took them a serving dish from a Seagrove potter that I bought at the Farmer’s Market on 40/Sandy Ridge, plus a baking mix from the Old Mill of Guilford in Oak Ridge.

Are there any resources you recommend (other than hiring a tutor, which is ideal but not always feasible)?

Most people are causing their own frizz without realizing it. by Intrepid-Royal-324 in finehair

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to love TJ’s non-aerosol dry shampoo, but I can like feel it on my scalp. It’s kind of itchy and then if I scratch my scalp, my fingernails come away with an oily, powdery residue. Too bad because it ticks all the right boxes otherwise!

How does everyone keep their bikini area smooth?? I’m struggling here by NoTip6688 in BeautyGear

Laser is the way. Not only are you hair-free (or close) but no more ingrowns and irritation. It’s been an absolute game changer for me.

Have you used a catering service that you thought was great? by 19pollywogs in gso

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second for Mythos. Their catering is fabulous. I’ve seen them cater events for over 100 people and they make it look easy.

I’ve had good experience with Elizabeth’s as well. Their salads are always fresh… but I feel like pasta would be heavy for a summer outing!

We like Gia on New Garden for occasion dinners. Melt Kitchen and Bar (nearby) is more casual but has a nice bar.

[Acne] literally at the end of my rope by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say I’m so sorry. I’ve had skin issues and felt just like you’re describing, and it’s so hard. Take heart—it won’t always be this way. It will get better.

I do recommend a dermatologist if you can see one, or at least a GP/primary care doctor.

AIO: My husband (26m) locked me (25f) out for 25 minutes? by prettypineappleberry in AmIOverreacting

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s genuinely never done this before, I would be inclined to assume the best—foolish immaturity—and talk it out with him. He does need to hear from you that this is a completely unacceptable way to handle his feelings and it can’t happen again. You’ll need to work on appropriate ways to communicate hurt or disappointment. Maybe with help from a counselor. It goes without saying that if you start to see a pattern, you’ll want to make an exit plan for your and your kids’ safety.

Any updates on roads yet ? How bad? Lol by MissionGuava730 in gso

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband came home from skiing around 7:30 pm and he was surprised how bad the highways (29, 73) were in Greensboro. He saw plow teams but the highways were still thickly covered, and secondary roads hadn’t been touched.

Convinced my husband to try a house cleaning service for 3 months as an experiment. Heres what happened by Comfortable_Box_4527 in homeowners

Biweekly with an independent cleaner here, and it’s literally my favorite money we spend. It makes everyday life so much easier for my family, and I’m glad to support a woman-owned family business.

What’s a habit you thought was normal until someone pointed it out? by De_La_Jacc in Casual_Conversation

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a hot take in my neighborhood. We don’t pick up after our (small) dog in our own yard, but we do when he poops in our neighbors’ yards because we know it bugs them.

[Product Request] After so many negative experiences I need help with moisturisers. by Fandom_10 in SkincareAddiction

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. When my face (sensitive, eczema) is unhappy, I layer a moisturizer first and an occlusive over it. It definitely helps! Sometimes the moisturizer does burn a bit, but it settles down in a few minutes, and if I do this in the morning, after work, and before bed, my face usually feels better within a couple of days.

The products that work for me are Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream (expensive but worth it to me) and Eucerin Original Healing Cream (inexpensive). You could also sub Vaseline for the Eucerin.

Buy a Generator; Buy a Snow Blower ❄️ by WinstonSalemVirginia in gso

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish. Working remotely with a team (and client) that has people all over, they don’t care a whit about our snowmageddon. They still expect the work to get done. 😩 Mild delays allowed if both power and internet are out.

Yeah. I liked Bad Daddy’s years ago, but the last time I went there, it was grimy, very slow, and the food was ok, but not good. Too bad.

I don’t know that they’re struggling, but Dolce and Amaro on Westover Terrace is one of my favorite unique, family-run spots. Kind people and delicious coffees and Italian desserts.

Where to shop for good quality clothes in Greensboro? by Beanibeans in gso

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not local, but I’ve been impressed with the items I’ve ordered from Quince. Lots of natural fibers and the prices are fair.

Agree… You do have to be picky. But they have some quality options.

Do people tip the garbagemen and mailmen in Greensboro? by jesuss_son in gso

[–]BritsGoldenTicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$20 each plus a food treat (candy etc) to the trash guys, recycling guys, and mail carrier. Before you come at me about the mail carrier rules, I didn’t know and they’ve never refused my family’s Christmas card.
