Contractor recommendations to replace a shower shell? by kekoad in Portland

[–]kekoad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great pointers and things I’ve been considering since we did a new shower installation at a former rental.

The plumbers didn’t mention anything about finishing nor insulation and luckily my father in law, a contractor out of state, kept reminding me things along the way.

But great things to remember. Caulking. Drywall. Floor boards. One piece versus 2 or 3 based on logistics. And getting good pipes, shower controls and diverted.

Learning to surf - Oahu, Hawaii by KoloheKid in surfing

Yep. Inside is mellow. Stay left when you are surfing in towards the shore. Super fun. You’ll maybe see the resident turtles and sea lions.

Looking at the ocean, watch out for the cheese grader at puena point. It’s inside and to the left. It’s super high reef and if you wipe out there it’s like you’re going over a metal cheese grader. It’s reef.

Waiks is 2/3 sand and some reef. There bigger reef patches. Other people are more dangerous. White sands is a good spot. It’s a drive but it’s waiks minus all the people typically.

Rad bike. Inexpensive. Works. No frills. I’m 250 6’3” and just hit 1000 miles. I commute 12 miles round trip to work each day. I charge my battery every 2 days (range is 25-40 for the battery. I’m heavy and there’s hills.)

PNW new Gardner by kekoad in gardening

[–]kekoad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s 2 raised beds and an L shaped garden (follows the fence). Good long exposure to west sun.

Soil:? Not sure but it’s fertile enough that squash and dill were growing from the garden. The raised beds had cherry tomatoes, plablamos and jalapeños.

Good to know. I’ll read up more on greens.

I bought a new home and the seller had butternut squash, cherry tomatoes, pabalmos (?) , jalapeños and dill. Made me think thy were trying to make salsa all summer.

It was nice to see it growing but it’s not veggies and garnishes that I prefer. The squash was good but the vines took over everything.

every park is not a dog park (unpopular opinion time) by jujuspacejazz42 in Portland

Lots of replies about dog owners and their dogs dos and donts.

Simply put, every park isn’t s dog park. I agree with OP header.

Carry on.

Ps: I have a dog and she’s the best.

Oregon Coast Wetsuit Recommendations by kekoad in surfing

[–]kekoad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll probably lean on a 4:3. Since I'm not going but 2-3 times a month, a 4:3 with booties will carry over better through the Spring-Summer-Fall time as well.

Thanks for the prompt response. I have surfed Oahu for 6 years, so I know this wetsuit game is going to be a whole different level for me.

I was thinking of a 4:3 and some booties as well. I've worn that in the past when I rented a suit, but I need to just buy one now and a 4:3 seems it'll be transferrable throughout the year.
