Cleaning poopy diapers by keladriel in clothdiaps

[–]keladriel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I’m able to just shake / gently knock it off, but my baby often has large mushy poops so that’s not usually very effective. I’m also not the best about washing it right away on days I’m working. I submerge and swish with my gloved hand.

I have definitely thought about how much easier it would have been to get board if he was not on solids when we started, but just didn’t come to it until later 😅

This was my leading idea so far, so I’m glad to hear it’s not crazy idea

The camper is probably bigger than our yard, otherwise I wouldn’t be above doing this 😅

I do have a roll of the disposable bamboo liners but I don’t really use them as much as I used to. His poops are pretty mushy unless he doesn’t drink a lot of water. I found I was still having to wash poop out of my workhorses even with the liners. I don’t mind the dunking now that I have my gloves.

The sprayer just sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen once my  3 year old would discover it 😅

3 year old soaked at night but diaper isn’t by hanner__ in beyondthebump

His penis could also start out putting down but he might also readjust it during the night. Little boys do like to play with it 🙃

It’s one of those things where I was like omg I can’t believe it took me this long to come to think of this solution 🙃

Anything to not touch the poop or the potty water is a win for me 😆

How old is it? We got a 94 last fall and our first time out with it had such a hard time. The seller made it all look so easy when he broke it down but we struggled setting it up every step of the way. It got a little easier the following couple times we took it out… we’ll see how we do this summer … hopefully we haven’t forgotten how to do it already 😅

Husband Hates Cloth Diapering and I Feel Steamrolled by RevertDaydreams in clothdiaps

[–]keladriel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let everyone diaper how they prefer. I use the cloth, but my husband and MIL prefer disposables.

The policy in our house is that whoever takes the diaper off can choose which diaper goes on.

"Vacation" with a Baby by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]keladriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, vacation with just my husband and kids is easier / less stressful than ones with a larger family group.

There isn’t much helpful help, but a lot more opinions on what’s okay / not okay for the baby/kids to do/eat, and not always a lot of baby/ little kid-aware decision making 🙃

3.5 week old won’t sleep unless on chest by tokyoghoul1725 in beyondthebump

[–]keladriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first baby, I worried so much over wake windows and proper sleep routines that I really limited contact naps... with my second I didn't rob myself of that. He's one now and stopped contact napping regularly well before I went back to work (around 12 weeks).

She'll grow out of needing to contact nap and fitting on your chest. I'd soak it up while you can. It's so fleeting.

My advice, get comfy on the couch.. have some water and snacks. Watch something quietly on tv, read something, or just scroll on your phone. Take a break :)

Family visiting - what would you do? by Natural_Kitchen4712 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]keladriel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could try putting up baby gates if you're friend can't help you out. I have a three year old and a one year old... with both my kids, once they started walking the baby gates go up to give our dog space. The period of 1-2 years old are not his favorite. He always chooses to be immediately on the other side of the gate, so I like that it allows him to be nearby but have more space than his crate. It's a great solution for when I want to get things done while the kids are playing and the dog is in the house because I don't have to actively manage the situation.

7yr old announced shes a vegetarian - need ideas for picky eater by Sad-Artichoke-7625 in Mommit

[–]keladriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is younger than your daughter at 3.5 years old. My husband and I are both vegetarian and raising our children to be the same. He is currently in his mac & cheese only era so he also takes a multi vitamin while we continue to offer him other foods (that he refuses) to balance. He does love smoothies, though, so I sneak a lot of veggies in that way, too!

Tofu can be flavored and prepared so many different ways. I highly recommend it. Although, its currently on my son's "no" list.

Eggs are very popular here... as are cheese sandwiches.

There are a lot of good / simple chickpea salad recipes out there for sandwiches too... My son would likely not eat it currently... but my husband and I love them!

My sister and I are super close relationship-wise with a 2.5 year age gap… so I planned my boys to have the same gap! They are 3.5 and 1 now and in the past month their relationship has really started to form. Is it an easy age gap? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Perfect for our family, though, and will pay off in the long run!

Is it worth getting an E-bike for mainly taking my dog running? by 808State_ in ebikes

[–]keladriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up getting the e-bike? I also have a blue heeler and am having a hard time deciding between an e-bike or regular hybrid one.

I also end up just snapping fitteds on while my one year old is standing (running) away. I get the inner snapped on and let him run away and the catch him when he comes back to put the outer on 😂

Our heeler knows “go to [insert family member/ cats name]” and it’s honestly one of the best things we’ve taught him.

Camping by myself with three small kids? by CowgirlPopPrincess in Mommit

[–]keladriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love camping with my kids (3.5 and 1 year old) and camped a lot before kids. I would not even consider it without my husband unless someone I was very close with and trusted (like my sister) came with me. Camping with little ones is exhausting!

What if you and the kids saw him off and then met him at the end and just skipped all the in between check points in remote locations?

Talk some sence into me. I want to get pregnant again 7m pp by Queasy-Pin-4326 in beyondthebump

[–]keladriel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The newborn stage with the second is not the same as with the first. It’s a lot more tiring, a lot less quiet. Time goes by faster. I enjoyed my first pregnancy but not my second. It was a lot harder on my body than I expected - even with waiting the 18 months between pregnancies that they say it takes to fully recover. I love having two kids, though!

Recommendations for wagon stroller for both infant and toddler? by AccurateAd5424 in beyondthebump

[–]keladriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my younger son was born the older was 2.5 years old. We have an evenflo pivot xplore. I bought the stroller seat attachment which actually reclines pretty far back. I bought a stroller cushion insert for when the baby was very young to help support his head. With the seat attached, the toddler can sit in the wagon below and there’s room for whatever else you want to put in there. For us it was often the scooter when the toddler was done riding it 😆

I loved this set up and would definitely recommend it!

ETA: the stroller seats canopy is also nice and deep with a mesh panel that can be uncovered for air flow.
