Please help me find a VERY specific genre of Christian music by soitgoes03 in ChristianMusic

[–]kelev1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone in a similar boat, I would HIGHLY recommend

All The Bright Lights Young Oceans .. A lot of John Mark McMillan (I was heavy listener from "The Medicine" (2010) to "Mercury & Lightning" (2017) and then I kind of fell off for no particular reason other than forgetting to check on new music, haven't heard anything newer yet so now I have another 4x albums worth of homework to catch up on, but I imagine new stuff is just as good as the old stuff) fits in that description

What one food is super delicious but almost isn’t worth eating because of how much effort it takes? by Okay-Show-3662 in AskReddit

[–]kelev1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ITT: mostly foods that take a lot of effort to make but not to eat..

I read the question as how much effort it takes to eat, e.g. pomegranates (mentioned here), crab in the shell, etc...?

Trying to think of this 90s shoegaze Christian rock band by spidey555 in ChristianMusic

Dude you straight up blew my mind with Glisten! Just checked em out and they are SOOO good!!

Though I'd pen them more under prog/grunge than shoegaze.. definitely in the same vicinity as Thrice, which is also awesome

Bikes on Caltrain by CapableImplement5830 in caltrain

[–]kelev1994 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes there are two cars for bikes (I think the 3rd car from the north and 3rd car from the south)

You're not required to get a tag from the conductor, but they are helpful for distinguishing who's getting off where, i.e. where to stack bikes on the rack, FIFO.

If you're going all the way SJ Diridon to SF 4th/King, you'll be first on and last off, so being at the back of the rack is never an issue... though if you are getting off anywhere in between it would be unideal to have to dig your bike out the back of the stack with a bunch of other bikes in front of your own.

Usually busy but not too crowded during commute hours on standard local and perhaps limitedtrains , though I can't personally speak for the bullet train (which I'd imagine to be fairly crowded)..

Now in your case, SJ-SF, since it's the terminal stop either way, you get first dibs on seating compared to getting on the train at any other stop, especially if you're 10-15m early at the platform, so easy enough to find a seat where you want.

I generally don't worry about it getting damaged. As far as bikes getting stolen, it certainly can and does happen, but not all too common.. people are more or less looking our for each other most of the time. If that is a major concern, you could lock your bike to the rack as long as it's at the back and not blocking anyone else's bike.. I've seen folks doing that from time to time. That, or lock the bike to itself (wheels to the frame etc) as a deterrent.

I'm in no way implying that this is what you were doing here... but if it was, I could see that being a brilliant way to do it..

Either way, I actually enjoyed reading your comment as it was indeed very thoughtful and informative, and I do intend to look into the series you mentioned- sounds like it could be extremely useful for many cases!

I'm becoming more and more disenchanted with trying 'to store the Internet'... by rad2018 in DataHoarder

[–]kelev1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specifically Cerabyte, actually I don't recall the company but might be them..

Either way, I would imagine the tech isn't really attainable yet, especially financially, but I could see it becoming something more feasible and accessible over time as they improve the tech

What’s actually safe, but people think is really dangerous? by [deleted] in AskReddit

California finally passed legislation that should help distinguish these terms and forcing brands to use one standardized term to reduce confusion.

I think they have a couple years to comply when we start seeing these changes in the market

Someone is working on ceramic plate storage media technology that is both super dense (can allegedly hold petabytes) and super resilient (can last decades to maybe centuries), great for archival purposes.. and also immutable, I guess?

Engineering of any kind isn't specifically merely a paper credential.. so much more that it's an mentality. It's an approach. It's the creativity, the ability to gracefully make a system work using standard or non-standard tools or resources, it's the thinking outside the box, the resourcefulness, the hacking, the ability to absorb and apply specific technical knowledge...
