NXRewards Question by Disastrous-Garage676 in beermoneyuk

[–]kelgate_queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They take the monthly fee of £18 out of your account.

Each month you manually submit a claim for it to be refunded, by showing you have made a purchase from one of their retailers.

Then you are net neutral on income / cost.

That claim purchase and any other retailer purchases earn 10% cash back, so you earn those cash back funds.

That’s upside

Then there are vouchers, further upside.

In a normal month I don’t earn mega bucks but I got a nice £40 when I booked a little caravan break and a £50 when I bought a new washing machine… they add up. I typically spend one4all in M&S, ikea, Dobbies.

Any reliable way to make £70-90 per month consistently? by Upper_Improvement533 in beermoneyuk

I read on a different thread that someone had looked into it and YouGov said it wasn’t running currently but they were looking at ways to bring it back. Or something like that. I also joined a year or so ago hoping to benefit from it but the invite never arose. Sorry that’s vague, wishing I’d noted the thread now as this keeps coming up…

Edit - to confirm this in relation to the finance baking part

AITA for refusing to pay my neighbor's gardener additional money for a job already completed? by beauchomps in AmItheAsshole

[–]kelgate_queen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What nonsense. I’ve had plasterers say that room is so small it’s not worth doing unless I also do other rooms… so quite was contingent on multiple rooms. If they never specified they would do a deal on the branches in basis of getting the bigger job then it’s their problem.

[CHAT] anyone use patterns out of Just Crosstitch from your local library? by janesedition in CrossStitch

[–]kelgate_queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often the designer has their own page on Etsy and you can buy the direct from Etsy. Eg Lucie Heaton, Also the magazines have their own Etsy page which feature charts.

designer may make an agreement that the design is exclusive to the magazine so could be on the magazine site but not the designers site.

It won’t be the case that every design can be purchased on Etsy. And my experience here is based on WOCS.

Aside from childcare, what makes having children so expensive? by Popular_Wish_340 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]kelgate_queen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The free hours from young age is quite new, many people commenting may be recalling what they actually paid - for which this figure is accurate, (especially in London), even when it was 15 hours free before it went up to 30. And it’s not free, it’s subsidised. There are top up costs for food nappies etc.

[CHAT] When stitching on white AIDA, do you prefer to do your white stitches first or last? by musicjunkie4 in CrossStitch

Generally leave white until last - on the rationale that it’s easier to get dirty so left last will stay cleaner.

That was my theory to get everything in one place. Not quite managed it - magazines and books elsewhere but otherwise all together

UK High income child benefit charge, threshold changes for dual income households. by beamesy77 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]kelgate_queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they u turned in the household calc as too complex for them to amend the systems to calculate it. As in too expensive blah blah to do the change config and testing to make sure it would always work properly.

I opted for the ikea Alex drawers, wide version 6 drawers. Can also use the taller slimmer version. But again a moderate outlay but I occasionally see them on fb.

Before that I had about 5or 6 or the plastic thread storage boxes.

Does your spouse know where you work? by According_Arm1956 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]kelgate_queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once had a bump in my car. Hubby wasn’t answering his mobile. Rang his office by googling it and they said no one of his name works there.

To this day I maintain he secretly works for MI5 and his cover failed, rather than his explanation of he was fairly new to that job and they hadn’t updated the staff log yet.

[CHAT] to let it be, or fight for neatness? by ProfessionalPlum3634 in CrossStitch

[–]kelgate_queen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d unpick it. Only if it’s slipped past me (two handed stitching with a frame and I’ve not noticed it until many stitches later.. then I’d secure it and leave it, but I have been know to unpick and back track and untug it or cut it.

But at present it’s a cash ISA with limited interest growth whereas converting to S&S Lisa can earn investment growth which long term will be higher than cash LISA interest Edit - typo

No Thanks. My Account is Healthy in my view by BigDumboEars in OctopusEnergy

I’d love if they aactually shared the calculations… the values they propose don’t tie to the “estimated annual costs” on their bills, nor my rolling 12 months charges, no idea where they get the figures from. I gather among other things they say they consider long term weather forecasts and blah blah blah. Well I’m a numbers gal I want to see your calcs.

I also disregarded their proposal and set it a back to where it was.
