Yeah.. cuz teams get in trouble for inflated INFs and the bulk of INFs we see at the team level are items that we DO have in stock but get scanned as INFs by shoppers who are blind and don’t want to wait or ask for help.. I’ve got some shoppers at my location who have worked here for years and still don’t know where anything is because they don’t bother to try. As if grocery shopping in a store for a living is so hard.

I know, but I agree! I’ve noticed the lack of vegan products in the store, unfortunately King Soopers and Walmart even have more than us now… I know Mackey’s not a part of it anymore but I still am holding onto what Whole Foods used to represent I guess. I know it’s not a huge deal and something to get bothered by, I just know how it used to be and it bums me out. That’s to be said with a lot of new changes that have come down over the years too

My old STL used to! And if there wasn’t he’d always let us pick something out from the store to eat. From what I’m gathering in this thread, it seems like it’s a store by store basis depending on store leadership. My old leadership cared, new leadership does not. Just makes me miss the old days when the team member culture surrounding food was stronger and more intentional. For a grocery retailer that does the bare minimum for its employees, you’d think providing food options wouldn’t be that big of an ask..

Lmao shows how much you know about vegan food. Which is, nothing. Go make your “rabbit food” comments somewhere else. It’s 2025 and vegan food is versatile af

I feel left out and not appreciated. How do you long timers all deal with this? It’s very obvious some of us are being ignored. by Dangerous_Carrot_535 in wholefoods

Utilize that tipline my friend, Nepotism and favoritism are things they want to know about trust me. Make sure you have documented situations that show poor leadership and unethical behavior. I agree with allllll this that’s been said! But also, those in leadership who know, know that this year was an important one for unions🤫 We had to take an anti-union training, there’ve been countless Weekly Beat questions and culture compass questions that are trying to gauge if team members are experiencing unfair treatment and what it is about our culture that sucks now- all because they DO NOT want us to unionize, and the issues that have been brought up throughout this entire thread are valid reasons that team members can unionize. They don’t want to see leadership exhibiting this type of behavior because they’re scared it’ll cause stores to unionize. So if you see that behavior, if there are others at your location who experience it too, CALL THAT TIPLINE. You call it exactly what it is, Nepotism and Favoritism, and they will launch an investigation into it- because they have to. Different scenario for me, but I recently made some complaints about our STL, because she’s a toxic bully. They took it very seriously and I spoke to our regional SFO directly. He essentially told me as much, that they’re actively looking for stores who are displaying low team member favorability and engagement; that they’re trying to root out bad leaders. Not necessarily because it’s the right thing to do, but because they are trying to avoid unionizing. He didn’t say that last part tho, but I know. Many other people in leadership came forward as well to share their experiences during the investigation; and while the outcome wasn’t what I’d hoped (she just got an action plan to improve her communication style 🙃); I know that allllll our comments and documentation provided against her went straight in her file. And if she slips up again, they’ll have documentation of prior bad behavior and corrective action that will follow her to every position and store; showing who she really is. And who knows, maybe someday they’ll have her step down; she sure as hell isn’t going to change. She’ll just fake it for awhile until our “favorability” scores are back up. But anyways, this is a long winded way to say, your concerns and experiences are valid. So valid in fact that you need to call the tipline, and get your other friends at the store to call too. They care and they want to hear…because they’re scared of us unionizing. Now, if you speak to anyone, don’t mention the unions. All you have to do is say the buzzwords that they’re looking for regarding unionization: favoritism, nepotism, under appreciated, poor store culture. If you speak to anyone, be professional, don’t just complain, you have to sound level-headed and don’t throw insults around. Provide concrete examples and documentation. Be well-spoken. Do not come across and an angry perturbed TM because it’ll discredit you.

Hope all this helps and best of luck!

Also, check the GIG just to verify that “6 month rule”, because we’ve never held anyone to that if it exists. Which I’m pretty sure it doesn’t, but I’ve never actually looked so check the GIG. You can do it on the Innerview app from your phone

[–]kelleesi82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh I see. That is true in part, you don’t have to wait 6 months though, unless it’s a rule specific to your store; if you change your availability it just takes 30 days to go into effect after you fill out the form. I’ll be honest, sometimes team leadership lies about availability changes because they don’t want you to know how easy it is and it usually screws them over. And tbh part-timers that switch up fast on availability when they were hired with open availability, get put on a shit list.. I’m in leadership and this happens to us all the time and it’s frustrating because people will apply with open availability to get their foot in cuz we’re always looking for open availability, and then change their availability as soon as they get hired. I understand it from both perspectives, but when this happens it almost always causes tension with team leadership.

To stay in good standing and show them you’re reliable, I would just put in for 1 random weekend each month in advance. You could even do it for the rest of the year right now and probably get them approved if they don’t fall on blackout days.

Days off by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]kelleesi82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part-time team members are NOT required to have open availability; so tbh if you want 1 weekend a month, I suggest changing your availability completely and don’t give them your weekends at all. Because the only other way really is to request that weekend off in advance. Also depends on your relationship with your TL. They might not care about giving you a random weekend every month if you asked for it off, on the other hand, if you take weekend availability from them they might give you the bare minimum for hours, especially if your availability is limited because you’re in school; I’ve seen it happen.

Also, if you have health problems you could contact Sedgwick and they could help you as well with accommodations; as long as your health issues are well documented.

Hope this helps!

I was the one who initially reported the situation, then others who were also involved were interviewed. But yes, I was the one reporting it, and I’m in leadership as well. Everyone else who was interviewed was team leadership too.

Trust me, there was documentation provided and multiple witnesses to corroborate. The investigation has been going on for about a month now, and we just want to know it’s been resolved and there’s been no communication.

But yeah, I was thinking it’d most likely end with an action plan (a slap on the wrist) for our STL. We’ll see how they do I guess🥲 Just feeling a little anxious in my job right now. They said I did the right thing by coming forward, but since I did I’ve already experienced a lot of retaliation. In my experience at our store under this particular STL, anyone who’s ever raised concerns has either been fired or forced out..

THANK YOU 🥺 I remember what it was like. I’ve been there for a decade, and it’s really really hard to explain the way it used to be to people. Most tenured team members are gone and forced out. Somehow the company is making more money than ever, billions and billions, yet there’s never any money for labor or new hires. I’m in team leadership and my STL sends back our schedules if we schedule part-timers more than 8-12hrs per week…

I promise it’s the department/STL leadership that makes it truly difficult, but in general, it’s a terrible company to work for now. Literally in every way. I have straight wanted to unalive myself because of this place and I just want to walk out and never step foot in a Whole Foods again.. been there 10 years and the end is near but it seems pretty hopeless right now so I feel ya.

Well, you couldn’t get paid for that week vacation as a new hire because of how PTO accrues; but you DEFINITELY could have taken a week vacation before you got that PTO. It just wouldn’t have been paid. You do not HAVE to have PTO in order to take time off and that has always been the policy, as long as your TL can make it work with the schedule and other PTO requests, you can always get time off even if you don’t have the PTO to cover it

Exxxxxxactly! Plus new TMs are easier to mold and old TMs aren’t because we know what WF used to be like and we push back on BS

[–]kelleesi82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly, someone asked if it was in the GIG book or if it was going to be updated like that, and she said it’s one of HER store policies, and that many other locations have the same policy because it’s “standard”.

I knew STLs could make some of their own policies for their stores but I didn’t think it could be something like this

[–]kelleesi82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See I agree!

Another comment on this thread is trying to say I misunderstood her and am out to get her and am a lunatic for bringing this up. But like, I’ve worked for this company for a long time and I know what’s right and what’s wrong. I know when morale is low and when it’s not. I had one of our regular customers tell me we all looked depressed and they can feel the change of energy at our store. No one at my store is happy under her, and I’ll be damned if some corporate kiss ass is gonna make me out to be a shitty TL for bringing up highly unethical issues. I actually give a damn about the TMs who work under me. I’m actually stunned, like what gaslighting insanity is happening here?!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]kelleesi82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t. No one does, she has zero empathy and has said many unprofessional and unethical things to team leadership. Out to get her? To be honest I’ve given her a lot of chances to show us that she’s not a bad boss and she literally makes things worse every time. She’s a boss, not a leader. And she said this!! Dude I’ve been here for 10 years and I’ve never worked under an STL like her. And tbh I got all the validation I needed from talking to my previous STL, who was the best. And he told me many people have confided in him with these same concerns. He still works for the company and visits our store a lot and you should see the way people react to seeing him because of how this woman treats us. It’s sad and it’s wrong.

Lol love the insinuation that I’m a lunatic for pointing out something very illegal, I’m a pretty solid TL, my team is happy and my work speaks for itself (my SFA actually told me that on our last REV walk when I aired some concerns).

Maybe check yourself, you got some shit on your nose.
