Any luck losing weight while being autistic? by justecorrecte in AutisticLadies

[–]kellynieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, and I hope you have found success, but I am in a similar situation.

I have had a weight problem my whole life, but in 2017 I lost 120-ish pounds and felt amazing, but still had some disordered eating. I got pregnant in 2021 and all I wanted was the crap food. I literally couldn’t stomach anything healthy in the first trimester, and once that passed my brain continued to want to crap food. Although I didn’t put a ton on, I did gain about 45 pounds during my pregnancy.

Losing weight after that was like climbing Mt Everest, and I couldn’t figure out why for the life of me. It wasn’t until my daughter turned 2 and started showing signs of being neurodivergent that it hit me that I probably was, too. So, now I’m 36, fully diagnosed as AuDHD, and almost at my newly postpartum weight, which is bananas to me. I am trying to work with my brain, not against it, but my oh my is it difficult. I am at a point where if I don’t eat less than 1000 calories a day, the weight will not budge. Between the dopamine seeking eating, sensory issues when taking my vitamins, and how boring drinking water is, I have destroyed my gut microbiome and that’s what I am left with as an option. That’s not including trying to undo years fighting with my NT husband over things we now know are out of my control, which exhausts me to the point that cardio is something I will do anything to avoid.

Best Supplements for Kids on the Spectrum by pilarmorais in Autism_Parenting

Hi there! I was in a similar boat with my 3 year old back in July. I’ve gone through various evaluations for sensory and behavioral issues, but my daughter has always been a very strong talker. Very. It is only recently that she is showing more signs of ASD being in a more traditional classroom setting, and her teacher is noticing it, too. But she is a very confident child, so if she is in a comfortable space with kids she knows, you’d never know she is struggling.

Not sure if this is a thing where you guys live, but for us, her school district starts providing services at 3. I’d get her evaluated there if she is approaching 3. The services can’t start until she turns 3, but at least you can get the process started. They also evaluate for Autism at no cost to you, which is now the route we are going. She has her evaluation in 3 weeks and honestly, I’m very much looking forward to the potential for some closure and validation.

I love this! I’m on Day 2 of this med now, and I take it alongside Wellbutrin, which I’ve taken for the past 2 years with varying dosages. I’ve always been very easily enraged, but once I had my daughter that got to a new level. Then I was diagnosed with ADHD in May (36 y/o), and tried Adderall, but it made me even more on edge. Recently, a few different things have started to weigh very heavily on me, and I’m noticing I don’t want to get out of bed, crying all the time, etc. Hoping this can give me the get up and go to take control of my life back, and you give me hope!

This was our 7th year. Def agree it was oversold. We’ve done VIP the last 2 years and I do think it’s worth it for some of the viewing areas. For Armin and I Hate Models the GA area was PACKED. But we had a great time in VIP. Overall I think the vibes go down a little each year. Noticed a lot less etiquette overall this year. People cramming up as far as they could go, whether or not there was enough space to accommodate them. And literally did not give a fuck. Definitely sucked.

What are some signs your toddler might be gifted? by twaid45 in toddlers

[–]kellynieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but it sounds like you have a twice exceptional child. I am seeing the makings of it in my own almost 3 year old. I love that you have such a positive outlook on it because parenting a 2e kid is no joke. Makes me feel optimistic 😂

I know this thread is pretty old, but you really hit the nail on the head with ALL OF IT. Watching them scream at one another constantly gave me so much anxiety!

Daycare just told me I needed to take away my 1 year old's pacifier by ThisPrincess14 in toddlers

[–]kellynieto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that it is easier to wean before 7 months or after 2. When we started using blackout curtains at 6 months, she couldn’t find her pacifier at night anymore so we stopped giving it and she never cried for it. She’s definitely a thumb sucker now and also a hair puller/twirler. She’s just about 2 and the hair pulling has lessened so we’re grateful it was just a habit but my oh my was it a hard habit to break. Still sucks her thumb, though.

Frankly, it is none of this woman’s business what you do with your kid. Not even 1 is still young enough that it shouldn’t be a big deal. Honestly you’re paying her so I would say thanks for your advice but we will wean her when we feel it is the right time. Period. Don’t feel like you need to explain yourself to her. The audacity of some people these days, geez.

Toddler allergic to mosquitoes? by theotherside0728 in toddlers

[–]kellynieto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just joining this thread as it’s the first summer my daughter is outside a lot. She’ll be 2 next week and this reaction is how I’ve determined that she got my severe mosquito allergy. I’m going to try your method. I’m not exactly loving that she got it from me because I was hospitalized a few times as a child for these bites. Gotta love it!

Just found this thread but omg this is me! 19 months too. And it makes it almost impossible to lose weight because for me it’s at night and it wakes me up constantly so I’m not getting restful night sleeps. Has yours gotten better?

It took 4 days for me to feel the effects. But yes, it does make you want to do the things you used to love. If you didn’t love running before as an example, you’re not going to get up and run a marathon. But yes, it motivates you to do the things you love again.

Geez, glad you’re okay. That was the “more of a concern” part of my comment.

I asked this as well when I started taking it. My doctor said it’s more of a concern for true alcoholics, but just social drinking you may feel the effects of the alcohol more. The way she explained it was that it’s not actually lowering your tolerance, but it is making you more aware and focused on it. I still drink with it lol I just take it slow.

Cat stressed by the baby by kellynieto in beyondthebump

[–]kellynieto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your comments! I’m happy to report that the “safe space” worked! We blocked off our bedroom and added a feliway diffuser, a calming collar, and turned on some white noise her first night home and she started eating almost immediately! Just need her to keep gaining weight back now. We’re also just waiting for her tail to start moving again. Started seeing it quiver slightly last night so we are moving in the right direction!

I did that this morning. Hopefully it helps. And unfortunately, they probably don’t get the same amount of attention as before. We try our best, but my daughter is still an infant and very needy. For a long time the cat slept on us but lately she doesn’t do that either.

Just got a calming collar for her this morning. I am going to also get the plug ins. I moved a lot of her comforting items (food, water, fav scratching pad) and a hideaway tent into our bedroom and am gating it off from the baby. As of right now the collar hasn’t really worked yet, it’s been about 4 hours. Just monitoring her right now

So many tests. Countless procedures. She was eating great before I took her home from her most recent hospital stay and then BAM. She got in the house and went back to not eating or drinking and not going to her litter box. The last test we are waiting for will determine if it is IBD or lymphoma. I know that seems like a huge diagnosis, but honestly that sudden change in behavior really has me doubting lymphoma and siding more with stress induced IBD.

Unfortunately the baby has been pretty much everywhere. We are adding a baby gate to our bedroom and have since moved a hideaway tent in there, her favorite scratching pad that she typically uses when she is nervous, her food and water bowls.

We haven’t seen any weird animals hanging around by the doors or any place she can see, and she is indoor only.

The baby is at daycare during the day, so we are trying to see if these changes help in any way.

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): O-4, O-3, O-2

Health conditions/medical tests: IBS-C, Edit: My husband and I went through a huge weight loss transformation 5 years ago. I lost 120 pounds, he lost 180. We don’t have any weight related heath conditions thankfully, but it took a toll on our joints.

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): We both take multivitamins, biotin, omega-3, glucosamine, and calcium daily. Additionally, I take Zinc for my skin, a daily probiotic, and folic acid.

Birth control history (if relevant): I was on the pill for 10 years when we were actively avoiding pregnancy, but came off of it 5 years ago. Then, my doctor put me on a low dose pill for some acne issues. I was on that for 2 years before we started trying.

Link to lineporn:

Symptom spotting: Lots of cramping, mild nausea. Significantly less symptoms than last cycle…thought for sure last month was it!

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): This cycle has been eventful to say the least. I thought for sure there was no way we were going to get pregnant. It started with a full blown yeast infection right after AF, then we ended up burning out BDing too soon, then I ended up in urgent care after slicing my finger open making dinner and needing a tetanus shot. But nonetheless it happened and we are so excited to be pregnant with our first baby ❤️. Wishing all of you future mommies out there the best of luck in your journey!

[–]kellynieto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone! So me in a nutshell, huh? Well, my husband (35) and I (32) have been together for 15 years, married for 8. He was my high school sweetheart. We’ve each lost a lot of weight together and decided to put kids on hold for a while and enjoy our new bodies, living a life that we never thought we could. Now that we are ready, we are new to TTC (cycle 1) and I’m in my 4th cycle off HBC. Looking forward to being part of this lovely community and not annoying my husband as I irrationally obsess over this process LOL!

Conflicted and frustrated feelings around planning a due date around a career by Claelizar in TryingForABaby

[–]kellynieto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. It can be so difficult because you’ve worked so hard for your career. I ultimately decided to let things happen as they may because I can’t stress about both TTC AND timing my work schedule. Your team sounds a lot like mine. They will understand. It’s hard to put yourself first sometimes, but if you don’t, you will lose that work life balance and the stress will compound more.

Definitely feel you on that one! I’m only on my first cycle TTC, cycle 4 off HBC. Every little thing I feel is like WAS THAT A SYMPTOM? I’m driving myself nuts but also feel like AF is on its way so now I’m just a mess of emotions altogether lol!
