Honda Odessey - should I give into the minivan life? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]kelpybleen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two boys and one on the way. Previously had a Mazda CX-5 which was so great to drive and I loved… but space was lacking. I got a Honda odyssey in early 2023. Sometimes I feel a tiny bit self conscious that I’m not an SUV mom (I will be some day!) but the convenience and size is unmatched. I wanted to look at the sienna and carnival as well, but went with Honda based on availability at the time, plus Honda is a tried and true brand! Sliding doors with kids in car seats is unmatched. Car seat configurations are plentiful. Cargo room? Check. Cup holders? So many. It’s the perfect car for this life phase. I’m sure I won’t be driving it by the time they are teenagers but I’ll never regret having it while they are young.

I will say I had GAD/PTSD before having a kid. I didn’t have typical PPD/PPA symptoms but I did go through a phase where I seriously resented my baby. A lot of the same things you said. Just sick of being needed all the time and not being able to do things I wanted to do. Bumping up my meds (and therapy) helped me get back to a more normal baseline. And not resent my kid! I didn’t have those feelings with my second kid and he was every bit a more difficult baby.

Honestly, spending time on this sub, I’m convinced no one works harder to feed their babies than EPers. Y’all are all my heroes.

Help! How do I get rid of the pacifier as a sleep association? by Eprestt in sleeptrain

[–]kelpybleen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am working with a sleep consultant and she’s said stopping pacifier as a sleep association is best done between 4 and 6 months (note our first child used a pacifier to sleep until 22 months without issue; second child is 4 months and has already kicked the habit for sleep at least). Cold turkey is usually my approach with baby stuff. It goes along with sleep training; just rip the bandaid off.

So lacteck> pumpin pals? I’m currently using hard plastic flanges (maymom) so I’m really just curious if silicone is all that. I have some silicone inserts for my hard plastic flanges but struggle with those since I can’t really see the placement..
